Warren Moon strikes back at Nawrocki - Nawrocki responds
Moon took particular exception to the part of Nawrocki's evaluation that labeled Newton's smile as "fake."
"How do you judge a player on his smile, whether his smile is fake or not?" Moon asked. "I've never heard anything like that in all my years of listening to evaluations on players or anybody, whether their smile is fake or not and you've never met the kid. If you're going by what general managers have to say, most of those general managers spend 15 minutes with him at the combine, so how are they going to get a real good sense of who this kid is by that?"
--------------------------------------------------------------
"(I) talked to a lot of people in the Auburn program and a lot of people throughout Cam's career," Nawrocki said. "Talking to NFL sources, just tracking down his background.
"I'd rather not go into any specific sources, but anybody that questions what was written can go back and do the homework.

Why would a reporter make a comment like his smile is fake.
Would it be news if his smile was genuine. I don’t blame Moon for his attack. So the kid has a fake smile. Maybe he isn’t well liked because of his desire to make millions in the NFL, who cares. I guess, that is what I don’t get whether it is news or not, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. That goes for all the hate on players like Kelsay, Whitner, Bell etc…. So they are average, what self serving justice is there to say the guy is mediocre or average or throws ground balls, or hot garbage, etc… you play to win the game and in our case we lose more than we win. Now someones smile is criticized.

I agree with you about it being ridiculous to criticize a guys smile as being fake, its just outrageous.
However
So they are average, what self serving justice is there to say the guy is mediocre or average
Are you really implying that fans shouldnt talk about players and have honest assessment and discourse? Hating on somebody is very different than fans talking about their team and calling a player average. They are paid millions of dollars to play for us. Part of the fan experience is discussing players – the good and the bad.
i’m sure i’m going to regret this conversation… but what the hell - J2

Being paid millions shouldn't have any baring on it.
That is the career path they chose, and are fortunate to be a part of it. There is a risk for the player that goes along with making those millions. Your right if an honest assessment and discourse can justify the players performance but often times we as a fan have no clue whether the player is being asked to perform outside his natural abilities or in schemes or packages that does not suit thier skills. We look at stat lines, compare to other teams and players on that team and their stat lines and make assesments. The apple Vs apple comparison is so very rare when everything is considered. That is why I feel it is more self serving than actual fact.

Don't you think
Nawrocki is trying to be a bit “more” than a fan here?
more to smiles then you think
When I first heard the smile comment I wondered what Nawrocki was smoking, then I remembered an acquaintance of mine. When we first met I thought he had the biggest fake smile I had ever seen! Now I should tell you my grandpa had a photo studio and tons of photo books laying about, so I have seen my share of smiles. Well, I’ve known this person for several years now and they just have an odd smile. It took me a year to realize that. So could Newton’s smile be like my friends?

Something to remember
In the world of “draftniks,” Nawrocki is the best. Mayock and Bunting are also very good, but Nawrocki is proven. He’s consistently accurate (as accurate as a pre-draft guy can be).
Nawrocki’s mentor, Joel Buchsbaum, was the best draftnik there ever was. When he passed, Bill Belichick and other attended his funeral out of repsect. Nawrocki learned from Buchsbaum. So he’s got a good base.
Nawrocki does his homework just like any other scout. The only thing that Nawrocki doesn’t do is interview the players. Nawrocki had been unkind to quarterbacks in the past; his profile of JP Losman compared him to Jeff George.
It’s not a race thing. Nawrocki’s just doing what he does every year.

@Der Jaeger
i can’t seem to find any scouting reports by Nawrocki’s that even remotely come close to this one. If you can find one close to this. ..This seeems very unprofessional and outside of the scope of a “scouting report”

I don’t belive it is race, and to me it sound’s like something kid’s in grade school do when they disagree with oneanother, fake smile. What does that mean? could it be that could that be a sign of bad person? personaly i think that he might have an ax to grind for what ever the reason and it dosen’t take a rocket scientist to see that.
