Canadian Fans - Let's get to know you

I wanted to write a post for all the Canadian Rumblers.

The idea of this post is so we can get to know one another.  The idea here is that we are a community within a community and it'd be nice to know a bit more about ourselves.  I'm intrigued to know how many Rumblers are from Canada.  So if you live in Canada, let us know and answer the following questions:

1) Which city are you from?

2) How long have you been a fan?

3) How many games do you go see per year?

4) Do you own season tickets?

5) How big is your group of Bills fans?

6) Would you be interested in meeting with other Bills fans to watch games at a bar?

7) Bonus question: Are you also a CFL fan?  Which team?

--------------------------------

Montreal

15 years

3-4

Yes, 4 season tickets since 2008 and I added 4 this spring.

I have 2 other friends that each own 4 seats, so we have 16 season tickets - and most of our games we are approx 20-30 people.  Unfortunately not many of those guys are true fans.  I'd say my group of fans is about 10-12

In Montreal when you walk around with a Bills logo, people throw money at you like you're a hobo.  There are no Bars that show Bills games but it would be nice to organize one.

Not really a big fan of CFL, I hate the rules.  But I get to see a few Allouette games per year nonetheless.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Cool

You sure the mocking is not in reference to your golf game? hahaha I still can’t get over the fact that Kyle Williams is a scratch golfer.

One of my best friends who comes to 1-2 games per year with me is from Markham and my other crazy friend is in Burlington.

The mocking generally starts before the round, but definitely intensifies as my game falls apart.

I grew up in Markham, and actually remember more Bills fans than I can find now. Seems like everyone’s jumped ship for a shinier, more successful team.

Does he go to many of the games? Hamilton must be a place with decent Bills fan-base given the proximity, right?

I agree he’s been a great Rumbler for many years. It seems to me he’s close to my place, he’s from Ottawa I think.

There are so many great microbreweries north of your border, like the Mill Street brewery that makes the Tank Ale or McAuslan in Montreal that makes the St-Ambroise – both in my top 3 Canadian Beers

1: Toronto
2: 25+ years…Fred Smerlas was my hero
3: See anywhere from 2 to 5 games a year including Toronto game
4: season ticket holder for 4 years…not renewing this year…got stuck with two games I couldn’t attend last year and had no buyers…lost almost $800
5: My group of Bills fans are my family…Wife and three daughters
6: Would be cool to meet other fans and drink some beer sometime
7: I watch the Argos in the summer leading up to NFL season and then the playoffs. The CFL is just so sloppy and slow compared to the NFL.

I’m the only Bills fan I know, aside from my girls. Lots of NFL fans around just not many Bills fans. Still wear my jerseys with pride though and have my Bills license plate cover and other assorted items…my pride is an Aaron Schobel autographed ball. Might upgrade to a Dareus jersey this year if he’s the real deal.

by TOfireman on May 20, 2011 9:34 AM EDT reply actions

That’s too bad man, I got nailed with the Dec26th game last year me too. I’m up to 8 season tickets in the lower bowl now and what I do is divide the amount by 6 games. I remove both pre-season and the Dec24th game because I’m sure I’ll get stuck with them or have to sell at a crazy low price. I give my pre-season tickets to a local Buffalo children charity so that some kid can have some fun. My seats work out to $100ea and I normally have no problems getting that amount.

I tailgate in a parking lot where Lee Evans’s family parks their RV and last year got some pictures with him and he signed my Jersey, pretty cool.

7.) No, I hate the CFL, it has stupid rules and really hurts the image of a game that is truly one of a kind.

What’s holding you back from becoming a season ticket holder? This year is great cause so many people didn’t renew that I was able to upgrade my nosebleeds to lower bowl on the 20 – Definitely something good to come out of the Lockout!

If ever you need tickets, I can maybe help you out.

I say yes – especially if you count all the nights I spent in Canada getting wasted – till I turned 21 of course – then what’s the point?

I know that 25-35% of the fans in the seats are Canadians

So given the little responses so far I am starting to make some conclusions…

1) Not many of those Canadian fans know about Buffalo Rumblings
2) Maybe they are not Bills fans at all, just NFL hungry Canadians wanting to grab a game
3) Most of the responses so far are Solitary Bills fans – Keep the faith boys! We’ll be back in the playoffs one day!

Could be that they don't want to admit to being Canadian....which is understandable ;-)

But seriously, many people don’t want to give out that kind of info over the net. Try a poll.

BC Fan

Wear my Bills swag (and tattoo) with pride, people who mock the Bills don’t get it, or they are the type of fan who takes their hat off when their team is losing!!! Been a fan since my first year in high school when Madden first came out for the Sega Genesis, I would use the Bills and kick arse!!! Started following them with devotion and now my life is consumed with the ups and downs of the Bills!!!

1) Which city are you from?

Vancouver ( Became a fan in Halifax)

2) How long have you been a fan?

1989

3) How many games do you go see per year?

Fly down to the Miami game every year and any game in Seattle or California

4) Do you own season tickets?

Nope

5) How big is your group of Bills fans?

Me,my wife (guilty by association) and 3 good friends who live and cheer in Halifax, Nova Scotia

6) Would you be interested in meeting with other Bills fans to watch games at a bar?

Hell yeah!!!!

7) Bonus question: Are you also a CFL fan? Which team?

CFL is Garbage, can’t stand that you can kick the ball in the stands and get a point!!!

Great stuff!

I think 80% of Canadian NFL fans are bandwagon jumpers and they go with the flow. Superbowl groupy sluts sorta speak.

Real fans are few and far between. Actually anybody crazy enough top still be wearing Bills stuff is definitely a hard core fan. I can tell you that in Montreal specifically back in the late nineties when the Patriots sucked, nobody was a fan – now every second person on the street is a Pats fan!

The Bills will climb back to their perch atop the AFC one day and us real fans will prevail!

Go Bills.
