I was reading the Tim Graham article linked in the morning roundup section, mainly checking out the highlighted comments about Fitz throwing for 4000 yards this year. That, by the way, would be awesome since Bills QBs rarely even crack the 3000 milestone. 10 more TDs than INTs? I'm not sure Fitz is capable of such a feat. But I digress...
This is the part that caught my eye:
Henry (NY)
How small did Maybin look when he came to town for the workouts? I heard he looks like a WR
Tim Graham (3:46 PM)
That was a topic of debate among a few of the reporters. I thought he looked about the same as last year. Others were sure he'd lost weight.
Great. Tim Graham thinks Maybin looks about the same as last year, when he was unable to get on the field. Some of the other reporters seem to think that he's managed to somehow get even smaller. I realize that playing OLB is more than just size in the 3-4 scheme but where's the tipping point between power with speed and speed without power? If Maybin wasn't strong enough last year what are the odds that he's improved his strength while either staying the same size or perhaps shrinking?
I guess that it's semi-positive that he apparently showed up to work out. That does show that he's not just mailing in however much of this season that he clings to a roster spot. I don't know that I can consider that to be good news so much as meh news.
I'm really not much of a bright side sort of guy. As good as I can conjure at the moment is that pretty much everyone involved in the Maybin pick is now gone....with Maybin likely to follow when there's an injury at pretty much any position.
