Thank You Mr Wilson!

Bear with me here folks. This is a gentleman whom I have repeatedly stated on here that although he could have, many times over the years, moved our team and made himself more money. Mr Wilson is a man who has been ridiculed, and castigated, not only by Bills fans, but by others around the league. But I'll tell ya what....

Mr Wilson, once again, has shown all of us that he is much more faithful to Buffalo, it's fans and city, than we have ever been to him. With the last CBA, he KNEW it would hurt the chances of our Bills remaining in Buffalo. He KNEW it was an arrangement to the detriment of small market teams. Remember??? Is there anyone here, or in Cincinnati for that matter, that did not ridicule their "no" votes in the last CBA??? Amazingly, only 2 years later, ALL the NFL owners realized what Mr Wilson and Mr Brown tried to tell them... The CBA stunk, and hurt not only the smaller market teams, but the whole league...

We know little yet about the details of this new CBA, but one thing we do know, is there is a lot more shared revenue between the clubs, and that the vote of the league, was unanimous, meaning both Mr Wilson and Brown signed off on it... Yeah, there was a shared revenue pie in the last CBA, but did it bother anyone else that new stadium expense was included in what was shared? Before any of the small market teams got anything? That the NFL was (and may still be), in discussions to build a stadium in LA for a non existent team??

No more... The teams get the money first according to reports, before any league projects that make a Bills fan pay for another Jonsyworld....

But most important of all.... Thank You Mr Wilson!!! Your vision, and dedication to Buffalo, the fans, and the Buffalo Bills, has once again worked to make the Bills more financially stable, and attractive, as a franchise that remains in Buffalo, not only under your watch, which I pray lasts many, many more years, but for future generations, so they can also enjoy this wonderful legacy you brought to us.

Thank You Mr Wilson...... You are truly, THE Buffalo Bill....

To any posters... Please keep any negative comments out!!!!

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

and then...

this man has the grace to thank us????

"I am happy that the players and the owners have reached an agreement. This has been a long, arduous process for everyone. But in the end, we have a deal that is fair to both our players and the teams and, at the same time, protects the integrity of our game heading into the future. And that is extremely important as we move forward. To our fans, I say thank you for your patience and your understanding during these past four months. So with this great news today, it is time for all of us to focus on the 2011 season and look ahead to Training Camp. I’m excited about the direction our team is heading as we enter the upcoming season and I know our players and fans share in that excitement."

Thank you Mr. Wilson!!

There is no doubt in my mind that Mr. Wilson has been a steady voice for the leauge, and the bills. He gets too much flack around this site. He has made some bad choices through the years, but he has also made a lot of great choices. I wish him the best and I am honered to be a fan of his team.

excellent point...
He has made some bad choices through the years, but he has also made a lot of great choices.

And through it all, the Buffalo Bills are still home, where they belong, and Mr Wilson’s legacy is stronger for it….

I was glad he voted no, on the last CBA, it felt rushed soI’m glad he did it. they made fun of him, like they are making fun of Al Davis, but had it not been for men like them this league would be much different, and not for the better.

There is nothing worse than exaggeration!

This

Is why Ralph Wilson is a Hall of Famer.

The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun

Rec'd.

Being from the legion of long time Bills fans, dating back to the 60s, I have had my share of “not-so-wonderful” things to say about this man. But your post is accurate, and describes things in a way I had not organized in my mental closet. For all the things we have disagreed over the past years, he has avoided possibly being an even richer man by keeping the club in Buffalo.

So I join you in saluting Mr Wilson.

Year two is upon us.

Agreed. Revenue sharing is the foundation of the Bills staying here and Mr. Wilson helped to make sure we got it. He also never sold us out, nor did he vote for the old CBA just because everyone else wanted him to. Thank You Mr. Wilson!!

I completley agree. I’ve this for awhile that a lot of fans don’t give ralph enough credit. Ya for the past decade he has let the team slip, and I mean that by not paying our own bred talent or just not wantingt to spend the money on quality FA’s. But I he what he has put together in chix is really something to be absolutley excited about. Also having an apprentice in whaley who’s spent yrs with a first class org like pittsburg and now learning from a great draft and scout guy in Nix is going to go a long way in keeping our bills a contender year after year, once we get to that point. FYI The LA stadium WILL be built. I listen to Espn radio LA all day everyday and their was a lot of movement with that today at city counsil. AEG has I think around 900 mill to spend them selves and would only need 300 mill in bonds. The four teams being heavily talked about are jags, rams, raiders and chargers. In fact the chargers could move as soon as 2012. Their stadium lease in qualcomm is up in 2012. Qualcomm is the biggest piece of pooh staidum in the league. The chargers could play @ the rose bowl for a few yrs while the staidum is being built and trust me the rose bowl for as old as it is would be an upgrade. Don’t worry billsnation our beloved bills will NOT be in LA

I never got why people busted on Ralph, I know he hasn’t always made the best decisions, but without him Buffalo wouldn’t have any football period.

Very Nice Article

Old Ralphie has sure taken his share of grief from fans and the media. Some of it deserved and some of it not but that is the way of many business leaders. Bottom line as Cinga excellently put it is that Ralph could have move the team many times to greener pastures and he didn’t. He knows how much the city of Buffalo and the fans are attached to the Bills proven by the loyalty shown through the many years of mediocrity.

Just think of the Bidwell’s and the Cardinals they started in Chicago went to St.Louis and now are in Arizona. We all know what Modell did to the loyal Browns fans, Al Davis moving the Raiders to LA and back to Oakland, the Irsay’s in the famous moving the Colts out of Baltimore in the middle of the night, the Rams moving from Cleveland to LA to St. Louis and of course the city of Houston losing 2 teams the original Texans and of course the beloved Oilers an their “Luv Ya Blue”. Ralph stuck with the City of Buffalo even though he could have gotten a pot of gold moving the Bills into another city with a state of the art stadium.

Yes he has made his share of mistakes but I truly believe he made them thinking he was improving the team. He gets called cheap but he has spent his share of money of FA’s they just didn’t pan out…

And because of Ralph Wilson the Oakland Raiders are still in existence today. During the AFL years and the bidding war for players the Raiders were about to go under when Ralph stepped to the plate and lent the team money the rest is history…

A Man like Ralph totally can piss off Jerry Jones because he is fiscally responsible and owning the the Bills isn’t all about the bottom line or else the Bills would have moved years ago!

first negative comment

i still am not a fan of what wilson does… i dont know why the fans need to mix loyalty with competency…

a person can be very patriotic or loyal to one’s country, state, city, school, football team or anything… that doesnt make that person competent…

ralph might be good at heart, and a really good businessman, but i dont see any competency in him to run a winning football team… if not for NFL’s business structure, I doubt ralph would have survived… he made money because of NFL not because he is a football genius…

by statcruncher on Jul 26, 2011 8:36 AM EDT reply actions

And Goose is right....

of course Mr Wilson has made mistakes. So have I in life, business, finance, romance, the works…
Bottom line however….

ralph might be good at heart, and a really good businessman

It’s his heart that has kept the Bills in Buffalo… It’s his heart that made the decisions he’s made, right or wrong in retrospect…. It’s his heart that has made every decision regarding the Bills….Heck, it was his heart that loaned money to Al Davis! It was his heart that voted against the last CBA…
All these things, tugging against a GREAT business mind!!!! Why has he done so much to keep our team in Buffalo???? I don’t care that he’s made questionable decisions! Heck, most folks applauded those decisions WHEN they happened… Hindsight…. Wish I lived there sometimes….

he made money because of NFL not because he is a football genius…

But he could have made more money if he had moved the team.

We all know that many of his decisions have kept the Bills in the doldrums but this was about him being loyal to the fans of Buffalo (at least that is how I interpreted the article).

I have always been a fan of Ralph and will be

I keep him in my signature for a reason.

I also feel that he has a plan for the Bills franchise even after he passes. He is a smart guy and loves his team. i doubt he would leave it in bad position.

In Ralph we trust

Revenue sharing........ I'm not celebrating yet.

Don’t mean to be a wet blanket, but we don’t know the real details yet.
Sure, they said there will be increased “sharing.”
But the cap floor has risen significantly. The Bills did not build nor sell 50 more $1 million dollar corporate suites this year.

What do we really get from Jerruh and the other rich owners in terms of actual dollars?
Nobody knows.

I just hope that the salary increases do not exceed the supposed “increased” revenue sharing.
Thoughts?
