Training Camp Player Watch List

Training Camp has started and our eyes are focused on a few players.  Here's my top 5 list of players I'd like to hear more about for both sides of the ball.  Let me know who your focus is on...

Star-divide

Defense

1.) Shawne Merriman (OLB) - the one question we are all asking is: "Can he stay healthy?"  If that answer is yes, it leads us to the next obvious question "How strong is his burst and power?"

2.) Aaron Maybin (OLB) - this has all the feel of it being his last chance.  Does it finally click with him?  Does he have the strength to disengage from blockers?

3.) Torell Troup (NT) - a lot of hype about his post-season training and strength conditioning.  How will this translate to the field?

4.) Marcell Dareus (DE) - # 3 overall pick.  Expectations are high that he'll manage the offensive line to help stuff the run.

5.) Terrence McGee (CB) - He has said that his legs feel great with the off season conditioning and rehab he did.  He's a great CB and is our # 1 CB.  Can he hold up physically?  We need him with Ochocinco, Marshall and Holmes in our division.

Offense

1.) Ryan Fitzpatrick (QB) - Year 1 as starter under his belt and now he has the helm from the beginning.  Will he play more consistent?  Have teams figured out how to stop him?

2.) Chan Gailey (HC / OC) - Chan's got a full year of evaluation under his belt and knows who his # 1 QB is.  How will he gameplan and scheme for Brad Smith and CJ Spiller?  Will he continue to go shotgun formation in third and short???

3.) CJ Spiller (RB) - Rookie year was a disappointment but he still has game changing ability.  Will CJ finally have the patience to setup his blockers and push forward?

4.) Lee Evans (WR) - yes...Lee we are watching you.  He's our # 1 WR but he disappeared in some games.  He's got the speed to go deep and blow up defenses.  Will he finally "break through" this year?

5.) Demetrius Bell (LT) - Stayed healthy in 2010 and finally could strength train over the off-season.  Did he build up the strength to stop the bull rush he struggled with in 2010?

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Great list!

great list, but i have to add a couple of wildcard comments.

1.) Fred Jackson – will he finally get the respect he deserves. Last year at Kansas City I swear we were in the red zone 4 times and did not give Freddy the chance.Pass, pass pass. Give Freddy the ball as much as possible! Freddy is amazing! Should be a Pro Bowler.

2.) Shawn Nelson – I watched this guy make some amazing catches! He’s very talented! He could be a very threatening target because of his ability. I hope you beat the migraines Shawn, my father had them and i know its not easy.

Great topic

1. Merriman has already exceeded expectations, to the point the S&C staff is reining him in so he isn’t overexerted.

2. Maybin: His fate is sealed. I think the death of his child took the wind out of his sails, he’s been a different person ever since.

3. The jury’s out on the rest.

Go Bills!!
