Nix and Gailey Deny Knowledge of Evans Trade Talks
Maybe that's why they didn't talk to Lee?

I doubt it. I just think in general you don’t comment on trade rumors. No one really does that unless they want to rule a trade out completely. To me, a team shouldn’t rule out trading players on rebuilding teams — particularly older players. I don’t see the sense in publicly saying so-and-so is not available for trade unless its a star QB.
The argument these guys should say he’s not available unnecessarily hamstrings your options. Sure its annoying for the player, but this is a business and it happens all the time. Lee is great, but there is no sense for this front office to be ruling out trades because we like a guys attitude. Great teams don’t do that. Maybe we should pay attenion.
Bills GM Buddy Nix appeared on Sirius NFL Radio Thursday morning and was asked if the team is open to trading Lee Evans. Here was his response.
"I won’t comment on Lee specifically," said Nix. "As a whole, we’re always looking to upgrade and create competition on our roster. We’re all capable of being replaced, including me."
Interpret that comment how you’d like, but basically everyone is replaceable as Nix sees it if it means he can improve the team on the field.
When asked for his thoughts on Evans, Nix offered the following.
"Nothing’s changed with Lee," Nix said. "He’s a Bill. We’re counting on him. As far as I know, speculation is all it is."
Buddy said this also – IMO not very encouraging.
Trading Lee is tough for me – I, depending on compensation, can get the logic – but i’m not sure I buy it. Lee should stay here
