I'm sorry but I have too...Could Tebow be a possibility?
With the looks of it, Tebow's times looks to be limited in Denver. With the new likes of John Elway and company, it seems that they have nothing invested in the kid and having Tebow there is causing more problems then helping. Since Tebow is such a lovable guy and such a leader, the fans in Denver are screaming for him but it is apparently obvious that Kyle Orton and even Brady Quinn are a much better option for their team right now. Having fans against Orton and for Tebow is not helping their situation over there in Denver and it seems that getting rid of Tebow looks to be their best bet if they do not see a future with him...and that is what it sounds like.
My question is could it hurt? I know Nix and company really liked Tebow and were planning on drafting him. #9 was too high for the kid, even though we haven't seen much from Spiller yet (although you and me both have high hopes). If Nix liked him so much do you think he would be interested in trading for him? I mean, how much would it take? A 4th? I am not sure, but it would be ideal and worth the risk in my opinion. Fitz is the obvious starter right now, and Tebow can sit back and learn and watch. A lot is up in the air at the QB position for the future and really depends on how Fitz does this year. Having Tebow in the background, knowing that he will not start nor is ready to start could be beneficial for the Bills future whether or not Fitz becomes the man or not. Aaron Rodgers spent a lot of time on the pine watching Brett Favre. And from what I remember, Rodgers throwing technique was criticized coming out of college too. By sitting a couple years with no intention to start right away might develop the kid. And for Chan Gailey and his style, Tebow is a great fit. The whole running QB thing. And I am sure we could find a way to use him on goal line situations to pound in the ball for scores...its what Tebow does best. I think its worth a shot for the right price. Giving a 4th or 5th for a kid with the abilities he has is worth it. Especially because I think Gailey could find a way to make him into a solid pro. What do you think?
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Tebow may be on the outs in Denver – one year after being a first round pick – because he’s not proving to be an NFL quarterback. Where would he fit on Buffalo’s depth chart? He’s not going to displace Fitz, Thigpen has starting experience plus some NFL success along with time in Gailey’s system, and Smith was picked to be the emergency QB and all around gadget guy. Tebow isn’t an option.
I wasn't sure I was going to like the white helmets but seeing them in the practice footage, I've got to say that I love the look.

Please whatever you do, don’t say the T-word or the F-word for QB’s for us. Nooooo!

F-word? I don’t think anyone’s advocating bringing Fran Tarkenton out of retirement. :)

Whether what I heard was rumors or not, they were trying to get back into the first to grab him. And from reading various articles saying that the Bills wanted him. I know Jim was pushing for him hard and he went out to dinner with them all. I’m not saying thats saying they wanted him, but I read a lot about how they wanted to come up and get him
Well here's a quote from Ralph Wilson on that

well that answers that I guess, but I honestly do not believe anything this organizations says. They told me they were not going to trade Lynch and were not showcasing him and then they do after showcasing him. Now all the crap with Lee Evans…If he was not on their radar why did they spend so much time flying him up, working him out and taking him out to dinner. Just to waste money and make people think they were going to take him 9th overall…I don’t think so. If they could have gotten him with their second pick I bet they would have taken him
no team would admit to showcasing a player
or say they want to trade somebody rather than keep him. It would make the team lose leverage
It was just a rumor during last year’s draft – I never saw anything concrete on it… A lot of speculation that the Bills were trying to move back into the first round to get him

And didn’t Nix deny he was trying to trade up for Tebow

I can’t remember – I think he did, but there were a lot of reports that they were inquiring and liked him before the draft – they did bring him in for a visit/workout too I think… either way, thank God they didn’t get him…

Yes, he said they were trying to move back into the first, but not for Tebow.

Dan Williams was the target I heard
Either way I’m glad we failed
The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun
I voted "other"
The only one, I guess. In retrospect, I’m not really sure why I voted other. I guess “if the price is right”, but then reading Ron’s comment above and I agree with him. There’s no place for him on the roster. I suppose that I would pull the trigger if someone got hurt.

I’d be ok with it for a mid to late round pick probably — we still need a good TE cues rimshot

dont you think
if tebow is causing issues in denver because of his existence, we would be buying trouble by trading for him?
if fans are screaming for him in denver, dont you think fans here will scream for him too as soon as fitz has a bad game… what’s the point?
and you say he is behind brady quinn over there… nuf said… if he is behind brady quinn, he has no future in nfl
I feel like this is a joke
Tebow on the outs in Denver? He was a rookie last year behind a GOOD starting QB, someone who gives Denver a much better chance to win now. Denver is not going to trade away Tebow and just because he is 2nd, which is exactly where he should be, doesn’t mean he no longer has a future in Denver.
Secondly, no way in hell do I want to waste a future draft pick on him because it would put us in the same position as Denver is in except Tebow would be 3rd string on our team behind Fitz and Thigpen. So don’t even think about Tebow to the Bills unless he has proven himself in 3 years and is a free agent.
Couldnt take it...
I live in Denver and am constantly annoyed by Tebow-mania. I’m not sure there is a football-related sentence in this city uttered without his name. I dont think I could handle the same thing on Rumblings.
Thank you

I'd make the trade
Buffalo has three glaring holes: offensive tackle, pass rusher, and QB for the future. If they can get Tebow for a 3rd in 2012, I pull the trigger for a couple reasons:
-Regardless of the speculation, Tebow is a good fit for Gailey’s offense. Gailey is stressing lots of quick passes (maybe because of the OL) but that something Tebow is good at. Gailey also likes striking deep, and Tebow, if nothing else, throws a great bomb.
-With Fitzpatrick and Thigpen, Buffalo has the QB of the present and a very good back-up, in my opinion. Tebow needs reps, and Denver didn’t do the right thing by playing him last year. He needs time, and sitting behind Fitzpatrick and Thigpen, learning from Gailey, is about as good of a situation that Tebow can be in.
-Sales would go way up. Buffalo needs revenue. Even if Tebow never pans out, the jerseys he sells will be worth the 3rd round pick.
-Buffalo is the hinterland of the NFL. Even a guy like Terrell Owens can come here and be quiet. That exactly what Tebow needs. 3rd string in Buffalo is tucked away, and that will allow him to get the work he needs as out of the limelight as the NFL affords.

I see your point on the revenue. He’d sell more jerseys even if he was sitting on the sidelines. With that being said, I don’t know that Gailey will be on Buffalo’s sidelines by the time Tebow is ready to start. If he needs another year or two of sitting and watching the Bills could well be on to a new coaching regime and a different offensive scheme.
There’s only one way I can see Buffalo trading for Tebow and that’s if Nix has decided that Evans is a goner. Trading Evans, a proven NFL commodity, for Tebow plus a 4th or 5th makes more sense than just cutting Evans.
I wasn't sure I was going to like the white helmets but seeing them in the practice footage, I've got to say that I love the look.
Just a hunch
But I don’t think Gailey is gone in a year or two. I see a bunch of positive trends with this team that should pay off:
-Defense is getting big. Buffalo had talent on defense with Schobel, Williams, and Posluszny, but they were smaller and got pushed around. Carrington and Troup are bigger, Merriman is a big OLB, Sheppard is a good sized LB, and Dareus is obviously large.
-Though I think that Belichick is trending away from passing, the league is geared to passing teams. Buffalo is building a pass-first team that should take the majority of the defenses they face out of their base sets. This has proven effective for some overall marginal teams (Denver 2009, Houston before Schaub got real good, SF for a time in 2009, Buffalo in the first part of 2008, etc). It’s not the road to glory, but should win Buffalo some games.
-Nix looks to be hitting on draft picks. From most signs, Troup, Carrington, and Batten are developing and contributing more. Moats is a keeper. Wang… meh. Easley could be a player if he stays healthy, not really Nix’s fault. Guys like Dareus, Williams, J. White, etc have been looking good.
I think now would be just the right time to pull a Kevin Kolb-esque trade for a guy like Tebow (see ESPN article).
Let’s say Nix goes Tebow for a 3rd (mostly because I don’t think Denver needs Evans). Buffalo could still go SLB and OT with their first two picks. So it doesn’t hamstring the future either.
And if it all doesn’t work out, at a minimum, Buffalo’s revenue went way up for the cost of a 3rd round pick.

He helped me out on my fantasy team when Orton got injured
by NotReadytoRock on Aug 11, 2011 6:03 PM EDT up reply actions
No offense meant, but
simply because somebody “helps out on my fantasy team” is never a good reason for acquiring a player IRL . . .
Besides, one of the reasons TT is on the bench in Denver is because some of their veterans apparently PREFER him there {which is highlighting some disagreement in their locker room}
And there’s one other factor: say what you want about Ryan Fitzpatrick, but — his presence at QB for the Bills has given them something they haven’t had since Kelly’s retirement, namely, someone the Bills locker room, the press {both local and national}, and fanbase {for the most part}, is solidly behind.
Now, after
Johnson vs. Flutie
Bledsoe vs. Losman
Losman vs. Holcomb
Edwards vs. Losman
do we really NEED another QB controversy??
.
"If You Ain't a Bill I Don't Give a Fxck Bout Ya!! Most Disrespected Team in NFL! I Always feel Disrespected! I'm All In!" -- Steve Johnson
Like Nix says, you are always looking to get better. There is always a controversy and by acquiring a player that could end up being great is worth a shot in my opinion. Did we really need Trent when we had losman? The coaches thought so, because maybe one day he would have been great and better than Losman but he didn’t. If it were up to me, I’d get as many young and promising talent to back up my starters in hopes one day they become great one day. Just my perspective.
if you watched him last year I wouldn’t call that sucking. I would call Trent Edwards sucking. He actually faired pretty well for his first 3 games

Wait
I don’t disagree with the interest in Tebow, but I say wait till after this year. We’ll have a better feeling for what our QB situation is. If it’s decided that we need a project quarterback, then get Tebow cheap from Denver and see how it goes. Getting him now just invites controversy and isn’t necessary. Also, his price will likely drop and we may get a better feel for his abilities and development after this year.
Why isnt
“oh my god please stop with this tebow nonsense!!!!” a choice?
by boomsauce on Aug 11, 2011 10:32 PM EDT reply actions 1 recs
No, no, no, and no
We already have Brad Smith. Why would we want a QB who is being out played by Brady Quinn. In all likely hood Tebow will be the 3rd QB who will come in on wild cat type formations.
