Kind of depresses me
Thinking of what could have been with him. He had some amazing moments as a Bill but it just wasn’t meant to be. Hopefully he stays healthy and at least has a good life.
This just reinforces Bills fans beliefs that the head knocks affected his game.
Year two is upon us.

I agree
What else could it have been? He was doing pretty good, then after the head shots…nothing.

Even after the concussions, you could tell the will to “stare down the barrel” was in him, but that fear was also there, creeping up on him.

Edwards’ comments on his time with the Bills are less than glowing. You can hear there were deep seated frustrations that he has never come out and spoken about.
I watched Lee Evans’ first press conference in a Ravens uniform, and you can hear the same tone when he talks about his time in Buffalo.
I can only imagine, if that’s what comes out to the press from these two intelligent and professional guys, what do players say to each other off the record? No wonder we have a hard time bringing players here. Schoebel kind of had that too. I can’t imagine him retiring when he did if he felt enthused about the organization.
Nix and Chan have a lot more work to do fixing the reputation of the organization than just putting up Ws,
I can only imagine what those guys really feel about playing through that era of the Bills. Must have been so frustrating with the play not-to-lose mentality of DJ.

Interesting take.
Now that you mention it, you can gleam some insight on his views of his time in Buffalo.
Hopefully things are changing and that stigma will be gone after this season.

Same thing happend with the Sabres
The sabres were always looked at as an organization that was not perceived well outside of Buffalo. They were cheap and treated their fan favorites like crap. Now with Pegula taking over, Buffalo has turned a corner as one of the better places to play and free agents and players actually want to go to Buffalo to play. Hopefully, one day the same thing will happen for the Bills.

Bottom Line
Edwards was not good enough. He was part of the problem in Buffalo. He’s a young guy still; why didn’t Jacksonville want him to stay and be part of the competition for the starting QB going forward? There’s a reason. Is he getting a chance to start in Oakland? Not unless Campbell gets hurt or is performing terribly. There is a reason.
All that being said he didn’t say much to glean from. He was a guy with pyschical talent that never put it all together. Some of it was coaching and the rest was HIM. I was at the home opener against Miami last season. Bills down by 5 with a minute to go back up to their one yard line and this guy is throwing the ball five or six yards downfield. NO COMMON SENSE for the game.
Lets not act like he was a good project turned wrong. Jauron was a grease fire and the line was too. And Edwards didn’t get it done when he had chances either. Good luck to him, but good riddance.
