Buffalo's Madden 12 Ratings
Hey guys, so I was surfing ESPN and came across the Madden 12 ratings. Obviously, these are not perfect, but they're always fun to look at. According to these ratings, Buffalo is the 28th ranked team. Given this past draft we had the 3rd pick, it seems about right. It probably doesn't help that there are only two players on our roster with an 89 rating or higher (players revealed later!). Our AFC East rivals all came in higher than us. While Buffalo had a team rating of 73, the Dolphins received a 78. Meanwhile, the Jets got an 87, good for tied for 4th in the entire league. Darrelle Revis helps that rating, with a perfect 99 rating. But the Patriots were even higher ranked, with an 88 that was good for third in the league. Like Revis, Tom Brady received a 99 rating. Surprise, surprise.
Bills players' ratings after the jump!
As noted earlier, there were only two players on the Bills' roster with a rating of 89 or higher. Unfortunately (or not), our punter, Brian Moorman, is one of them. Want to guess who the top ranked player is with a 93 is? It's Kyle Williams. I bet the Buffalo front office is trying to negotiate with Williams on a new contract because of this rating. On a more negative note, OG Colin Brown comes in with the lowest Bills rating, 52. What's also disappointing to note is that some of our more highly rated players are no longer on the team. Paul Posluszny, Lee Evans, and Donte Whitner are all gone. Evans was our second ranked TE/WR, Whitner was our top ranked player in the secondary, and Poz was our top linebacker. It may not matter that much in Poz's case, as replacement Nick Barnett actually rates higher than him (88 to 87).Here are our top ranked players, by position (rating)
QB - Ryan Fitzpatrick (81, 16 above Brian Brohm)
RB - Fred Jackson (80, 5 above CJ Spiller)
WR - Steve Johnson (86, 5 above departed Evans, 15 above Roscoe Parrish)
TE - Shawn Nelson (73, 4 above David Martin)
OT - Demetrius Bell (73, 3 above Erik Pears)
OG - Andy Levitre and Eric Wood (both 82, 8 above Chad Rinehart) Oh yeah, Wood is considered an OG.
C - Geoff Hangartner (77, 19 above some Sanborn guy)
LB - Barnett (88, 8 above Shawne Merriman)
DL - Williams (93, 10 above Dwan Edwards)
CB - Terrence McGee (83, 3 above Leodis McKelvin)
S - Jarius Byrd (84, 5 above Bryan Scott) Whitner would have been tops with an 85
K - Rian Lindell (83)
P - Moorman (89)
So those guys our are best Madden players. Interesting, right? Drayton Florence is supposedly our 3rd corner some 7 lower than McGee. It's also interesting to note that 1st round pick Marcell Dareus was third among DL with an 82. It would be interesting to what would happen if management made moves based off of these ratings. So have at it Buffalo Rumblings!

Why Madden developers are lazy
the developers over at EA Sports are consistently lazy in that, instead of taking the time to create a game engine that can actually fairly and realistically express how good or bad some teams are when inputting correct ratings for individuals, they simply deflate individual player ratings on the Bills, Bengals, Lions, etc lower to make the teams worse overall and then inflate the individual ratings of players on the Saints, Patriots, Packers, etc to make their teams better.
Lazy.
But thats just my opinion

Are any of the ratings that off though? To me they seem about right.

Roscoe got boned
The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun
I cant wait til Madden.
This is the longest wait ever. Usually its out the week of my bday (8/14).

Lockout effect
The developers say the lockout did not effect the release of Madden 12; however, I do not believe them. What makes it worse is the delayed release of Madden 12, delays the relase of NHL 12.

NHL and Madden are really the only games I play.
Occasionally Ill play Socom or Call of Duty on PS3.
And the Wii Sports. But other than that its Madden and NHL, inwhich I prefer NHL. Its the best game series ever.

I hate having to buy a new game every year!
It’s a cash scam from EA. Just sell one piece of Madden NFL software and then charge a few bucks for an update in graphics, gameplay, rosters, and player ratings each year.
They’ll never do that because we pay $60 for the same game each year.
This goes for all sports games.

It’s an amazingly efficient model for them.

agreed
Combine it with the fact that Madden is one of the few (only?) games with permission from the NFL to use actual players and teams, and you get “the same game each year” but people buy it every year.

in madden ratings do not matter
its just one of those meaningless things they put in routinely you will see linebackers/defensive linemen running with receivers and cornerbacks running the receivers route before the receiver makes his cut
i missed the 2k5 game play i bought it still a better game than madden whatever
Calling anybody a "career Redskin" when Dan Snyder is the owner is laughable. That dude make moves like he's some kid trading football cards. -greenwood1921
It's also interesting to see that cover boy Peyton Hillis got a 91
I personally think that both Jackson and Dareus should be higher
And allowing fans to vote for the 100 rating on certain players...yeah, that's realistic, "If it's in the game, it's in the game."
If that’s the case, I vote Bell has a 100 Pass Block rating.
Can you vote for Bell?
or do they restrict the candidates?
by bloppy_ploppy on Aug 26, 2011 4:42 PM EDT up reply actions
Restrict candidates, I bet.
But like someone said before, the ratings don’t matter. There’s videos on YouTube of a guy who changed some players’ teams and positions, and like his o-line was like both Mannings, Brady, Brees, and Roethlisberger, and they did pretty darn well (Peyton Manning even got a pancake block).
