Nickname'Orama (vote, post for the best and worst Bills nicknames)
It's about that time of the year... Rosters cuts! Everyone is talking about whether or not The ODB at OBD (ha ha kidding Ralph) will cut quality to save salary... Of course the FO will at least try, so now the only question left is will they cut guys with potentially great nicknames?
For example, I've always liked WR Felton Huggins, probably just because of his name and great nick name potential (Velvet Huggy Bear anyone?... The Velvet Hug....? ...Anyone?) so without further ado we will start the nickname debate. Which players have great nicknames, too many nicknames, poor nicknames? Are there any players who deserve a spot on the practice squad simply for their nicknames? Let's be honest if they're going to cut guys because of salary we may as well get the best nicknames possible.
My vote for the "close but no cigar" nickname goes to..... Kyle "Meatball" Williams
It is a simple, to the point nickname. However, I think Kyle "Meat" Williams is a little more befitting a football player and "Meat" is easier to chant after a sack.
Now Ryan Fitzpatrick wins the award for the most nicknames: Fitz, Fitzmagic, Good Fitz, Bad Fitz, The Centaur (see last seasons pre-season photo), And of course the first nickname I heard for him "the Irish assassin"
While I do like Fitzmagic, as it is sort of a tongue in cheek bite on Flutie magic... And he does have a somewhat bewitching charm... I'd be open to hearing suggestions, preferably not involving "Fitz."
Of course there is Fred "action" Jackson, which is fine, but I'm not in love with it. It's fitting and is a nod to a classic 80's action flick starring Carl Wethers, but it's a little too easy.
Anyway... There are some important starters and potential starters without nicknames, that we can try to address right here and now!
Okay the most obvious player lacking a true nickname is Stevie Johnson. This guy has is going to be a star and star wide outs always have an alter ego ie TO and Ochocinco. So, instead of going the old route and boiling him down to one name or initials, I say we do a little repetition so I propose..."Stevie Stevie"
...Now here me out, Stevie is a very likable name and he is a likable player. Say it a few times..."Stevie Stevie at the ten, five touchdown!" Or if he runs a bad route, has a drop you can kind of shake your head and say "Stevie....Stevie...."
I'm sure many disagree, fine, post your suggestions!
Okay, potentially starting along with Stevie Johnson we may have Marcus Easley. Now only if his first name began with a T or a D or an E then we could go with EZ-T or something, but it doesn't. We are stuck with "M" EZ-M??? Sorry. That doesn't click.
So, I thought of a possibility... "EZ Pass" eh? Not bad right? I like it, but I kind of think maybe that should be reserved for the offensive line. ...badabing!
And of course it looks like we will have to find a nickname for Marcel Dareus. I know he wanted "the hulk" but his nickname is not only for him to decide. Fans pay big money to see these guys, if we don't want to call you the Hulk we won't. And seriously, who picks their own nicknames other than first round draft choices for the Bills and their agents?
Eh hem.... "Mayhem"
No, no, no a nickname is something you earn, for better or for worse, so it might be early on for a couple of these, but I think it's safe to say we can start thinking of one for Marcel Dareus. "Big Mac" anyone? I know, I know it's spelled MARCel, not MACel....but he's big and we already have "meatball" on the defensive line. We could try going with a meat theme.... Okay definitely open for suggestions here. Post, vote for best, worst, most fitting, least fitting and new nicknames.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

How could you leave out
The Amish Rifle? IMO the best nickname on the team. Fitz wins

Your right!
On both counts, I have no idea how I forgot the Amish rifle….. Oh regret, well file it under Fitz. He really does have a billion nicknames…. I’m thinking “the bearded one” might be okay… You know if you say it in a very reverent way….
And Easley Pass is nice, not so obvious… But obvious enough.

New poll, which is a better nickname?

Well I'm assuming...
that your birth name was just “Huge Pecs” and that you added “Doctor” after medical school.
Or are you just a PhD?

I hate “Meatball”. It is not befitting a scary DL.

I actually love it. Something great to scream at the TV in a crowded bar…especially when you’re with your buddies in a PGH bar, and they’re all Steelers fans.

Dareus the Destroyer ....... at least going to keep saying it till it catches on
Who started calling Kyle “Meatball”? And what was the reasoning by it? Just asking kinda curious because everytime i see meatball on here, I was always wondering who that was. Although it does get a chuckle out of me.
