So after watching the game against the Lions, I realized that one of my favorite Bills had been missing for most of preseason. Arthur Moats went from being our up-and-coming outside pass rusher to a non-entity with the addition of Merriman. I am tentatively excited about Shawne Merriman returning to his previously awesome form, but where is Moats? Having a backup who can create pressure in case Merriman gets injured seems like something that we would need.
I was never really sure where Moats was supposed to fit as an ILB, but after the signing of Kirk Morrison, it seems like Moats isn't needed on the inside. Kelvin Sheppard looked awesome against the Lions, so we have backups set at both ILB positions. It would be great to see how Moats could play now that the front 3 are able to generate pressure. I guess having too much competition at the LB position is a good thing, but I'd hate to lose out on future talent because of misuse.
