For BILLS fans, the week 3 goal was certainly to beat the PATS. But more importantly, it was to prove they can do it and break the streak of 15 straight losses. However, against the Bengals in week 4 it will be something completely different. Week 4 will be about extending a winning streak.
Many outsiders don't know this, but the BILLS have a little New England winning streak deal of there own against the Bengals. After the BILLS lost in the 1989 AFC Championship Game against the Bengals in Cincy, Buffalo has ripped off 10 straight wins against the Bengals. Hard to believe isn't it? But, it's true. Check out the stats below pulled from the Bengals website. For those interested, Buffalo owns the all time series at 15-9. However, two of those Bengal wins were big play-off wins sending the BILLS home packing.
|1981||Cincinnati||W, 27-24 (OT)|
|1986||Cincinnati||W, 36-33 (OT)|
|2003||Buffalo||L, 16-22 (OT)|
The words "trap game" have begun to be whispered around town. I think in some form that is true. More so because from the outside it's a 1-2 team we are facing on Sunday. However, the Bengals will have some more motivation to beat the BILLS on Sunday. 10 sounds like a nice even number. I'm sure much like the BILLS the Bengals will want to start a new streak at 1-0.
I trust the Chan and Buddy show. I also trust Fitz. But I don't discount the power of motivation. BILLS need to stay focused and hungry on Sunday. Can't wait to watch it all go down.
