Should Bills be interested in Aaron Curry
So apparently the Seatlle Seahawks are trying to trade their 2009 #1 pick, Aaron Curry. According to what I've read on blogs and Seattle newspapers, he has been a huge disappointment. However not near as big as some of our favorites like Mike Williams or Aaron Maybin.
I know people get tired of the "lets trade for this guy" posts, but I just wanted to see what others felt about this player that once had so much promise. He's definitely has elite talent and is a big guy at 6'2" and 255lbs. My understanding is that he is an OLB there but I don't have much knowledge about the type of defense they play. Perhaps he could be turned into an ILB in a different scheme. I'm not really trying to convince anyone that we SHOULD trade for him, just looking into it. There is nothing wrong with trying to bring in good talent.
His career hasn't been a complete disaster, according to NFL.com he has 124 tackles and 5.5 sacks in a little more than 2 years. His contract was recently changed from 6 to 4 years so its a little more acceptable. We seem to have made a habit of picking up players that didn't excel at other places. If we could trade just a mid-round pick, I don't believe that it would be a real bad investment. We wouldn't get a player with that talent in the draft at that position anyway. Granted it would cost more money, but making the team better is important. I find it hard to believe that Curry wouldn't be a upgrade over Davis or Batten.
Again, just interested in the thoughts of others.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Seahawks play a 4-3....
so it is possible he would be a better fit with the Bills. I’m not sure I would give up much in the way of a trade for him, as players like Curry who under perform and/or fall out of favor tend to get cut anyway. How about send them Parrish and McGee for Curry?

not a chance
nix treats draft picks like gold, as he should. hes not swapping a mid round pick for a guy who couldnt hack in seattle. if they go after anyone like this i imagine it would be player-for-player, but i dont see anyone on the bills who makes the slightest bit of sense for either team really…
the thing about us “going after guys who didnt work elsewhere” is that we didnt have to give up anything to get them, they were waiver wire or FA pick-ups, ive seen nothing from buddy and whaley to make me think theyd part with a mid round pick to take a flyer on a guy.
and as for
I find it hard to believe that Curry wouldn’t be a upgrade over Davis or Batten.
i have no idea where that came from. davis and batten play two totally different positions, and i have no idea which one of these u think curry can switch too (i think neither…). batten is an animal on special teams, is clearly liked by the bills staff and FO, is essentially in his rookie year right now and is an immediate back-up to a guy (merriman) who cant yet be on the field all the time. davis is a defensive captain and veteran leader on this team, and although hes on the downside is still a very capable mike linebacker when the bills are keying on the run. basically, i do find it hard to believe curry would be an upgrade in either of these roles.
Like I said
I wasn’t trying to make an argument over anything. If you think Batten and Davis are better…so be it. I was simply suggesting that Curry could be better than Davis. He may be a captain but he has all of 7 tackles this year.
If the Bills don’t trade for him, and I don’t think they will, I won’t be heartbroken. Just trying to create a conversation.

when he came out
he was talked as a possibility of playing 3-4 OLB… he has the speed.. and can obviously cover…. i think he might have that hidden pass rushing talent that clay mathews had out of nowhere
Clay Matthews' pass rushing ability was well known from his USC days
Matthews rushed from LDE on passing downs at USC. He was drafted as a pash rusher by the Packers.
In that same draft, Curry was drafted as an all-around solid linebacker.
Starting the official Buffalo "Draft a Quarterback in the First Round in 2012" campaign.
09 draft
geez, didnt we draft Maybin ahead of Matthews? what a goof.
Ya, i definitely think no trade for a guy like that. I think Nix is smarter than that. Think about it, we only got a 4th rounder for Evans. Good enough for Nix though! Draft picks are too valuable to Nix to give up for Curry.
another one to watch for....
is Sergio Kindle who has yet to suit up for the Raisins… Granted, out all last year because of the concussion, but looked good in preseason, yet sucks on special teams for a team that has their starters locked in…. Living in B’more, I heard on the radio today that Harbaugh is disappointed at his lack of special team ability. I doubt he’d give up on him just because of that, but ya never know with Ozzie…
Optimistic??? Of course I am!! I'm a Bills fan, and as of right now, we are undefeated on the regular season!!!
Things are truly looking up!!!
Sergio Kindle
if disponible is the right guy to replace Merriman if he can’t play like his old self or in next 2 years. He’s a beast as a pass rusher and is in his rookie season now, like batten, because injury last year.

Huge Contract
No way the Bills (or anyone else) is trading for that pre-strike high 1st round contract.
Instead, he’ll get waived.
Seattle is sitting well under the cap...
you don’t drop 1st rounders unless your forced into it. He’s not getting waived for a while.
Catch the Taste!
I'd go for him if the price was right
I feel like Curry could be a good future successor to Nick Barnett as the main coverage LB. He’s an elite athlete, was a playmaker in college, and was supposed to be one of the surest things coming out of the draft. Almost like a Vernon Gholston situation, except Curry has been loads more productive in his few years playing so far.
I feel like the problem has been his being put at the 4-3 OLB spot – it didn’t seem like his natural position from the start. I see him as a Will LB.

Buffalo is knee Deep at ILB right now
With Chris White, Shep, Moats, Davis, Barnett, Morrison. We would have to cut a player from a different position and we would have 10 LB’s on the roster. Probably not a good thing.
It’s really funny because if you had made this post 2 months ago i would have Screamed HELL YA, but now because of what Buddy has braught in I’m like no thanks.
Remember we had to IR Eddins simply becuase we needed depth at other positions

Well...
To offer this nugget: Had Aaron Maybin posted the following numbers
…124 tackles and 5.5 sacks in a little more than 2 years.i’d venture a guess he’s still a Buffalo Bill.
This may be a case of many of us not knowing much about him and overvaluing his original status, but he might not be a bad look-see.
