Bills' Batten breathing much easier now - BuffaloBills.com
"Probably the most stressful time of my life to be honest with you," said Batten. "I was real nervous. I went out to practice (Saturday) as if it were any other day and go as hard as I could. So practice wasn’t different, but there was definitely something in the back of my mind of the time to come. I’m thrilled and it’s the biggest relief ever."

Inside The Bills | 2 undrafteds make it

Schopp: Anyone Else Smell A Sale? - WGR 550
"But a few things smell different to me now. The earlier point about indifference that fans are sensing. Not only are moves like the Evans trade and the lack of improvements to the offensive line a part of this, there was no bellyaching from Wilson about the direction of the league in recent collective bargaining talks, something we've gotten used to him from."

Schopp on Lee Evans and the "fire sale"

The Evans trade had little to do with a fire sale. Nix comes from San Diego, where they developed a D-league basketball teams as their receivers. Those type of receivers get open via size, not speed. Vincent Jackson and Malcolm Floyd aren’t burners, but they get open deep because they are rangy.

What’s Nix doing with the receiving corps? Surprise! They’re all tall now. Johnson, Easley, Nelson and Martin are all 6-2 or taller. Evans didn’t fit the mold, especially for someone that’s supposedly an All-Pro that catches 37 balls on a season.

Regarding Wilson, it’s all speculation that Schopp states. Any real news to report? Has Russ Brandon, Wilson’s point man, had any contact with folks like Golisano or Pegula? Or AEG in LA? If not, Schopp’s just guessing.

But it probably got people to go to the WGR website.

He’s been making it up as he goes along for at least the last week on air. I don’t think this drove anyone to the WGR website (except through the link I provided). Not a whole lot of people frequent their website.

That's a good thing

It’s truly no skill to look at a set of facts and makes something up.

Looking at a set of facts, researching, and coming to a logical conclusion takes time and work. You do it all the time. So do other contributors on this site. Brian does it daily.

Yet, Schopp gets paid to do it, but doesn’t. Good thing their salary isn’t higher, because a whole lots of folks would be out of jobs.

It’s a side that I haven’t heard before. Not that he can substantiate anything but it was an interesting thought.

Anyone else find the Hangartner "assurances" article interesting?

How Hangartner thought he was assured he would not be cut, and Gailey saying he made no such assurances?

Fits into what Paul Hamilton had said a few days ago about asking Hangartner if he was fearful of being cut and Hamilton said Hangartner seemed shocked at the question.

Maybe if Hangartner wasn’t sure of his place on the roster he may have been more vocal about seemingly not being involved in the “competition” at either guard position?

I’m probably the only one who finds this interesting, but I must say I do. I still just don’t get why Hangartner was seemingly “blacklisted” (meaning that as not being able to compete for a starting position either at center or at either guard spot) from a starting spot, and, ultimately, a spot on this team.

Because buddy and Chan have exact prototypes they want in their players. He wants big wide receivers, tall outside linebackers and big physical o-lineman. They are putting their stamp on this roster, and hang didn’t fit that mold.

Then why not cut him earlier and bring someone else in who is bigger?

They already have Levitre and Urbik to play center. It depended on Rinehart. If Rinehart (or Howard/Wrotto, etc) played well enough to be considered a starter at guard, then Buffalo can move Urbik/Levitre to center (if Wood can’t play) and Hangartner is not needed.

I think any coach who tells a player they are safe is stupid. I just don’t think it happened.

this

he chose to read into the circumstance (tragically little depth, basically none of it veteran), would be my guess.

I agree, I'm sure Gailey made no such assurances.

But just wondering why Hang would think so. Just found the entire thing interesting.
