Evolution of a Roster (Part 2)

All I can say is holy transformation, batman!  Whereas, I may have been disappointed with the direction of the offense, no one can deny that the defense has undergone a complete transition, and in every way for the better.

Position by position analysis:

DL - They have dropped 6 of the 9 Dlinemen on the squad, and brought in some incredible talent.  Dareus, Edwards, Carrington, and Troup are all upgrades over what we used to have (except for schobel).  We are bigger, stronger and hopefully will be much improved against the run this year with the addition of Dareus.

LB - Whoa.  Not a single LB from the Jauron era remains.  Every one is gone.  And as I looked back at the names of the linebackers we used to have, I am not the least bit disappointed.  I think we will bring a strong LBer corps this year.

DB - this is the only position where we kept a majority of the players from the DJ era.  It was probably a wise decision since both Jauron and Fewell were DBs themselves, and had keen eyes for DB talent, and probably were excellent teachers of DBs.  However, I am excited about the 3 new additions that were all brought in through the draft this year.

Special Teams - If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  I expect that the kickers are all in the twilight of their careers, but are still producing at a high level and don't need to be upgraded at this point.
