although...

the last two times we outbid the jets we ended up paying a combined 8 mil this season for florence and brad smith…

Florence has had his penalty problems,

but he has been good and we would have been in troube without him

Brad was overpayed….

Wildcat

Now that the person who brought the wildcat to the NFL is on staff, maybe Brad will earn his pay

We would have been in trouble without Florence, but there’s no way you can say he has been good. He hasn’t even been OK or acceptable. He has been bad.

I like it. I always like to see someone choose the Bills when they have options. I also like to believe its a sign that maybe the Bills are becoming an attractive organization to be apart of again.

by billsstein on Jan 12, 2012 5:57 PM EST reply actions

Or that no one wants to sign with the Jets if they have other options.

by CanadianBillsFan on Jan 12, 2012 6:50 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, seriously. I don’t know if the Bills are improving their image in general, but it seems as if the Jets are being viewed less and less positively.

Also, you really have to have a certain mindset to live and work in the greater NYC area.

“it seems as if the Jets are being viewed less and less positively.”

Promising to go the Super Bowl for three consecutive years — and losing the AFCCG the first two years and missing the playoffs entirely the third — can do that . . .

I think it has more to do with the locker room issues than the predictions.

I agree

not only are Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey football guys known in the industry but I take it as a man who sees something to work with in Fitzpatrick over Sanchez

He helped bess and camillo look good in Miami. Maybe he can squeeze a little more out of our “average at best” receiving core (Johnson excluded, he’s great)

Good move although I know nothing about the guy prior to reading the BR articles today

I’d say that any person they target and others are also interested and we then land them is probably a good move going forward. I would say that he probably has intimate knowledge of SEC players too for the upcoming draft.

Yeah... thanks! Last year we were fortunate by being able to coach the Sr. Bowl to see players up close

Did you see where the Redskins were coaching one of the teams with Tanehill that was suppose to be playing for… They need a QB and are picking in front of us, I wonder if the broken foot will give them different ideas about him and go another direction???

by dabillsr1 on Jan 13, 2012 9:59 AM EST up reply actions

It was a no brainer....

choice on his part… The Jets are quickly imploding around Ryan, while the Bills are still building into something special.

We have a solid core right now, and building next year, with our returning injured players, a decent draft and FA, and no lock out, meaning team OTAs, minicamps, and strength and conditioning, we SHOULD" show a lot of improvement next year….

The Jests??? Read the sports pages… RR claimed right up until a couple days ago that BS was his man… Their center just felt he had to call out his team mates for the trash talk going on about each other. And the players they lose this year to FA and retirement proves the “win today” attitude is quite fleeting….

David Lee chose the team with the best chance of success…. OUR Buffalo Bills!!!!

Optimistic??? Of course I am!! I'm a Bills fan, and as of right now, we are undefeated on the regular season!!!
Things are truly looking up!!!

I hope you're right about the Jets

But having BS resign and bringing in Sparano is a blessing for them. The young Schotty was a horrible OC and Sparano will likely make them into the team they should have been all along…smash mouth and run first. That’s a much bigger win for the NYJ than the loss of Lee A’s QB coach and it’s not even close.

the good news is...

With the Jets in turmoil under Ryan and with things so uncertain, we won. Even though this coach knows sporano and had all these connections.

Could this diarray help us if we get into a bidding war with the jets over free agents?

Will Manning (allegedly) or any other free agents want to go to a team with so many ME guys and so much dysfunction?

I read your “disarray” misspelling as “diarreah,” but that actually works too. :)

if the bills had a decent defense

they were at worse, 8 and 8 this yr.

they are not that far from being very good.

i am surprised people do not realize what is
going on here.

the latest hate fitz fest is a sign of loss of sane
analysis of this team….

you do not do what he did in the first seven or so
games without knowing what you are doing, and
being very good at it.

i think gailey was slow to adjust to defenses, our
defense was just horrid, and fitz felt the pressure.

i liked the washington game because it showed
that when the defense is dominant, the offense can
put points on the board without the pressure to
go pass crazy.

and i think the offense will be more balanced next
yr because they will have all off season to rethink
what they need to do to adjust better to defenses.

i am very optimistic going forward.
