Just a few potential offseason targets.

So we all know the Bills have some glaring needs going into this offseason. Pass rushing OLB, improving the run D, better depth at WR,CB,etc. Here's mob16151's real, quick plan to improve the Bills.

In Free Agency, I'd like to see the Bills target the following three players.

1. Robert Meachem WR New Orleans. He gives the Bills a legitimate number 2 WR,across from Johnson (Assuming he's resigned.). He's tall, fast, and still relatively young at 27 years old. His signing would let the Bills utilize,Jones,Easely, and Nelson, more effectively depending on matchups, and field situation. His signing would likely spell the end of Roscoe Parrish's time in Buffalo, and give the Bills a WR depth chart that looks like this.

1.Johnson

2.Meachem

3.Jones

3A. Nelson

4.Easely

5.Hagan.

The second player I'd like the Bills to sign in FA, is Dallas TE Martellus Bennett. He's stuck on the depth chart behind perennial pro bowler Jason Witten in Dallas. He's young athletic, and while not the best of blockers, he has the athletic ability to be a JerMicheal Finley type recieving target. His signing would give the Bills a TE depth chart that looked like this.

1.Chandler

2.Bennett

3.Smith

The third and final Free agent acquisition I'd like the Bills to make is Tracey Porter CB New Orleans. He's struggled some with injuries, since he's been a pro, but when healthy he's one of the top 15 corners in the NFL, in my opinion. Plus it would be nice to steal a corner off the Saints, after they stole Greer. His signing would give the Bills a CB rotation that looked like this.

1.Porter

2.Williams

3.Florence

4.Rodgers

In the first round of the draft I'd like to see the Bills take Nick Perry OLB USC. He's young athletic and explosive. He sadly, would immediately become the Bills best pass rusher as soon as his name was called on draft day. Look for him to explode at the combine, and have a Clay Matthews like rise up draft boards.

In the second, I'd like to see the Bills take Nick Foles QB from Arizona. He's strong armed, but comes from a west coast type offense. He had a very good season, until the end of the year, when it looked like he was trying to do to much to keep his team in games. Keep a close eye on him at the senior bowl.

In the third round Emmanuel Acho OLB Texas. He's not a great pass rusher, but he's big, physical, and is pretty good at holding his ground against offensive lineman. And the Bills need a LB like that.

Anyhow let me know what you think.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Im not a fan of those FAs

Easley when healthy is just as good as Meacham and cheaper
as for the corners i woukd rather stick with what vets we have and draft a prospect preferred over 6 ft in height

We don't know what Easely is yet

Since he doesnt get on the field in all fairness. And this year proved you can never have to much WR depth. And Porter at 5 foot 11 is hardly a midget.

Forgot to mention tightends

Bennett is nice but i have a draft crush on Josh Chichester dude coukd be a serious receiving threat he has wheels converted wide reciever 6’8 sitting around 240 has the frame to be 260 and not lose speed

Perry is a boom/bust reach at the 10th pick that the Bills can’t afford. I’d be for trading down and grabbing him, but it doesn’t seem like Nix is that kind of guy. I’d be alright with Courtney Upshaw. Sure, we have no dedicated pass rusher, but between him, Dareus and Williams, Buffalo’s pass rush would be at least average.

I also think the Stevie is not a legitimate WR1. He’s a great receiver who can find separation anywhere, but he’s not a big play WR. He’s Buffalo’s version of Wes Welker. He needs a speedy, flashy, upside WR opposite him. I’d push for DeSean Jackson, but personality-wise that seem problematic. I know Fitz isn’t known for his deep passing threat, but that’s what buffalo’s offense needs to open things up.

I’d love it if we could acquire Bennett and Porter, and I think Meachem is a solid receiver, but I think Buffalo has to be a little more dramatic to improve in 2012 (also, they’ve got a minimum salary cap to meet). My vote for offseason pickup this year: Dwayne Bowe.

Bowe would be awesome. I wonder if he thinks well of Gailey. I would imagine so.

I watch a ton of USC football, and I’m also not convinced about Nick Perry. He’s got some talent, but he is nowhere near the classic trio of Brian Cushing, Clay Matthews, or Rey Maulaga in terms of impact on the game. If we can get him in round 2, I’m on board. But not with the #10 pick.

I really think that anything is in play with the #10 pick. We could realistically go QB, CB, LB, DE, or WR, and there may be diverse talent available at all those positions. This should make for about 5,000 mock drafts :)

Woah

You are forgetting to mention Tyvon Branch, LaRon Landry, + Robert Mathis.

I don't think the Bills need another S

or old DE. Just me though. lol

so you dont want a guy who at only 30 years with limited help got 9.5 sacks this year on a 2-13 team? he has double our 2nd best producer (kelsay = 5.0 dareus = 5.5)

mathis teamed with kyle williams and dareus would be very exciting in 3-4 or a 4-3..although more effective in a 4-3

meachum es no bueno

had him on my fantasy team and it was rough. The saints scored 35 plus points soo many times and he had only 3 or 4 points it seemed each game. Brees spreads the love around a lot too so i was pretty astonished about that. I say pass on meachum.

Does not the dieing snake bite deapest?

i had graham so you can say i was happy but yeah meacham’s lack of production is due to brees having so many options including meacham…even sproles was a great receiving option for brees. the ong big difference between GB and NO ill add which is why i predict NO beating GB for the NFC champ

meacham is a good number 2 wr…not the greatest but certainly an upgrade over david nelson

@SocalBillsFan99

Like you said, Brees spreads the love around a lot. So why would Meachem get a lot of points in that case? Graham and Colston are the first options then the other host of WR’s and RB’s are the next options.

Meachem is a good receiver with the speed the Bills need. They don’t need him to be an all-pro. They need him to stretch the field and catch the ball when he has the opportunities. He does that for the Saints. He would catch a lot more passes with the Bills. And he would help open up the field for Stevie, D. Nelson,Chandler, etc.

He had like 40 receptions

and 600 yards receiving, move him to number 2 on a depth chart, and I could see him around 50 to 60 catches, and 700-800 yards, and that’s very good for a number 2 receiver in my book.

Bennett

From why I have read, it seems he is more blocker thn receiver. I like Meachem too

Agree with your free agents, plus they are realistic as far as signability. Which means it won’t happen :(

Pass on Nick Foles

Not a fan. Pocket presence and mobility are not where they need to be.

I haven’t made up my mind yet on Meachem, but your WR depth chart has no B Smith or Roosevelt. They get cut?

You praise TE Martellus Bennett, and want the Bills to sign him, but then you list him as 2nd string. Seems odd.

You want to replace an oft-injured CB, Terrence McGee, with another oft-injured CB Tracey Porter.

He [Foles] had a very good season, until the end of the year, when it looked like he was trying to do too much to keep his team in games.

So he is another Fitzpatrick?

.

When the job is finished no one remembers how long it took, just how well it was performed.
