potential pro bowl players
The first thing I want to say is anyone on the Bills team can literally make the pro bowl, yes even guys like Donald Jones or Erik Pears, but realistically only a few can. Lets look at players who have an actual shot at it next year. (no particular order)
1. Jarius Byrd, Byrd made the Pro Football Focus, often heralded as the best statistical organization ever for the NFL, to their all pro second team. and to quote them "Byrd has gone from overrated rookie, to underrated star. He should be very proud with that transformation." The Byrdman might be the best defensive player the bills have on the defense. with 98 tackles, 1 sack, 3 forced fumbles, and 3 interceptions he is IMO one of the best safeties in the league
2. Kyle Williams. He is just a year removed from a pro bowl selection and if he can get healthy than he is one of the top DT's in the nation. but, (just like everyone else on the bills team) he is underrated and undervalued in this league.
3. Stevie Johnson (FA).RESIGN STEVIE JOHNSON he is the only receiving threat currently on this team and he is also the only player in the entire NFL who can actually be a consistent player going up against Darrelle Revis, AKA the best cornerback in football. He has had 2 straight 1000 yard season and is becoming one of the premier guys in football. even though he gives CHIX a big headache he has room to mature and grow. He is also entering his 3rd starting year in the Gailey offense and that is usually the time when wide receivers go into their prime. 'nuff said.
4. Eric Wood. if only people knew his name huh? becoming one of the best centers in the league and is also a great leader. most casual fans in the NFL wont even know this guy, or for that matter everyone else on the Bills O-line, but constant observers see that this guy makes opposing players pay when they line up in front of him.
5. Andy Levitre. constant LG of the Bills has seen alot of playing time at 3 positions LG (his natural and position where he is best at), LT (Solid starter but nothing special), and C (may not be his thing). But this guy can play ball and is part of the Bills underrated O-line which gave up 23 sacks on the season.
6. Marcel Dareus. Going into his second year the multi-faceted defensive star was the 3rd overall pick of last years draft. was somewhat inconsistent but looked like a star in the making. look for him to be in pro bowl conversation by year 3.
7. Nick Barnett. Has some injury issues but is one of the best free agent pick ups of last year. is a sideline to sideline defender and is not a liability in coverage. he's 30 years old but recorded 130 tackles, 3 sacks, and 3 picks.
thanks for reading and again this was in no particular order. comments are welcome.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

good point
but as I see Fast Freddie on the wrong side of 30 and with him splitting carries with the new and improved Spiller I dont think he will have that much opportunities to carry the rock. plus with Chans pass first to set up the run i just dont see him making it.

so, you dropped him from the voting all together? :)
voted williams. hes the only one whose done it before, and the only one who will get any love from the voters. everyone else on that list could easily have a lights out season and still get hosed because they are bills (see: jairus byrd and andy levitre in 2011).
Its fun to think quarterback, but i think the odds of nix taking one in the first are close to 0%.
Eventhough fred is 30...
he doesnt have the NFL miles. he only really has 2 years of starting NFL football. i think he still has a good 3 more years!
also Fitz was just named in the same sentance as brady brees rogers on NFL countdown as premier scoring QBs!

I really dislike all of these comments about being a young 30 because he wasn’t in the NFL. He was still playing football and logging carries and getting wear and tear. Sure it was not the nfl, sure it was against inferior opposition, but it was also with inferior blocking which gets you belted.
He’s 30 plain and simple and has logged all of the carries and has the physical limitations of a 30 year old.
It's close to Midnight, somethings lurking in the backfield. Under the Bright Lights he cuts so fast it almost stops your heart. You start to scream, but he's in the End Zone before you make it. You're Paralysed.

I have a sneaking suspicion (and I’m not entirely sure), but if we add the total number of carries he’s had across all of his various teams, it still wouldn’t be that close to the other successful 30-year-old backs in the NFL.

there is a big difference between nfl carries and nfl europe carries and practice squad carries. he doesnt have the mileage that other 30 year old running backs that have been playing in the nfl since 22

really ?
Explain the difference ? he’s still running, getting hit by defenders, getting smashed when blocks are missed etc. No-one ever explains this mythical difference about NFL carries taking a bigger toll than other carries. I don’t buy it for the reasons in my above posts. Sure the defenders are better in the NFL however so is the blocking which leads to less “flush shots” being taken.

Not so sure
maybe less carries per game, but likely more games played too.
Also we need to remember that it’s not just game carries than affect RB’s. There’s training, age, runs in practice, all of these things add up on an athletes body.

Split between Dareus and Byrd
I think either has a shot next year if the Bills can win a few more games and stay in the national limelight. Fredex and Meatball also come to mind, but Freddy may be splitting carries and Kyle’s injury still worries me. Hope all 4 and a few more make it though.

There was a video with daerus on bb.com. It was his locker clean out video. During the interview he was asked what his plan was for the offseason. He said get better and it was spefically relating to wanting to be able to play the whole game with tge intensity he has in the beginning. They asked him if there was a pro bowl in his future he said of course and hopefully my first one is next season.

Byrd
Once Ed Reed retires, Byrd will have a legit shot (simply because Reed is getting voted in based on reputation at this point.)
As of 1/17/2012
No longer feeding the Buffalo Rumblings resident troll.
No longer responding to said trolls passive aggressive posts.
Not even if he baits by replying to a comment of my own.
Not even if his reply is devoid of all logic and assumes opinion as fact.
Ed reed is getting voted in because he is simply the best FS in the game and possibly of all time.
