Poll: Which Potential Super Bowl XLVI Matchup Are You Rooting For?

The AFC and NFC championship games will be played this afternoon and evening, respectively, and it got us thinking: which potential matchup are Buffalo Bills fans hoping to see in two weeks?

Patriots vs. 49ers: The only potential matchup without an obvious major story line, it would nonetheless be intriguing to see an old dynasty (49ers) match up against a more recent one (Patriots).

49ers vs. Ravens: When these two teams met earlier this year, the brothers Harbaugh - John and Jim - squared off for the first time as head coaches, and the Ravens won a home game 16-6.

Ravens vs. Gants: These two teams met in one of the most boring Super Bowls in memory, a 34-7 Ravens drubbing of the Giants in Super Bowl XXXV. This year, this matchup would likely be much more even.

Giants vs. Patriots: Here, we have the other previous Super Bowl matchup possibility, as these two teams squared off just four years ago, when the Giants thwarted the Patriots' bid for a perfect season with a 17-14 win in Super Bowl XLII.

When the season ends...

I ALWAYS root for the AFC East team that made the playoffs (yes it hurts sometimes) but I want to see the AFC East represented in the Super Bowl…..No sour grapes….season is over…..therefore GO PATS!

Next I can’t stand Donte Whiner….and the Giants are a local team…..GO GIANTS!!!

Giants vs. Pats…..Super Bowl REMATCH!

Haha, I think part of me just died when I read “GO PATS!”.

I can understand that logic for college sports,...

but not for the nfl. I cannot stand the Patriots and I hope they get embarrassed today.

I always want to see something I’ve never seen before. I’ve seen Ravens-Giants (yawn), I’ve seen Giants-Pats (that would be totally acceptable), and I’ve seen the brothers Harbaugh duke it out. Therefore, I voted Pats/49ers.

I am sick of the Pats being good.......

Are we really going to have to wait for Bellicheat to retire before they suck again? Am I jealous…….absolutely!!! I would like to see Flacco get his shot at a ring and for Eli to have more SB rings than his brother. GO RAVENS and G-MEN.

I usually root for underdogs or teams that have sucked for years during the playoffs.
So, I guess I would like to see the Niners beat the Ravens in the Superbowl.

As long as the Giants make it...

The Giants are my NFC boys (and no, I don’t care, I think you can have a favorite AFC and NFC team), so they need to make it. I’d love to see them beat on the Pats again, but honestly, I’m more intrigued by a Ravens-Giants SB because they’re two strong defenses, but I think Eli is considerably better than Flacco and has better receivers, so the offenses are mismatched.

It does bring me some small amount of joy to remind my Patriot fan friends that they haven’t won the big one since Spygate. “It’s a lot harder to do when you play by the rules,” I say, and they get red in the face trying to argue about it.

Thus, I’ll be whole-heartedly rooting for the opponent of the Pats.

family feud

Ravens vs. Gants:

Are there 11 members in Reuben’s family that can play the Ravens?

Wisdom says

Manning and Brady are elite QB’s ~ Smith and Flacco are in the next tier of QB’s, wisdom says when in doubt take the teams with the elite QB’s…

But that being said I voted 49ers and Pats…

Id like to see something else

But I honestly think it will be Gmen vs. Pats. I dont think the niners can stop the four man rush of the pats, and the Ravens four man zone blitz i dont think will fool Brady at all. Although if the Ravens can exploit the WR matchups, Arrington on Boldin in the slot, and whoever on Smith, they might have a chance. I think Love and Wilfork will stop Ray Rice, and if the Pats get up quick i can see Cameron abonding the run altogether. The Gmens pass rush is just too fierce, Alex smith wont be seeing cover 0 like against NO, he will see a loaded backfield as the giants only rush four. Niners will need an outstanding game from Frank Gore to be in this one…Cruz will need to have a good game for NY playing out of the slot.

If NE can pressure the 49ers from the other side of the continent they’re in big trouble. ;-)

Ravens vs giants a superbowl rematch. Living in baltimore ravens have always been my playoff team to root for when the bills miss the playoffs.

Nobody here should say Pats

We are Bills fans, how can you possibly want to see the Pats in the Super Bowl and endure another off-season of hearing how good Brady and Belicheat are?. I would like to see the Ravens anyway because you gotta love that defense and Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are running out of time, this could be their last chance. As for the Giants and 49ers, I am not a big Giants fan and I love Harbaugh so I am going 49ers all the way. Another thing I don’t get is why people hate Whitner so much. He was a decent player for us, true he never lived up to his 1st round expectations but he is doing the same thing in San Fran as he did with Buffalo. He is a hard hitter and a bad coverage guy. He was offered more money there and he took it so good for him. Our safeties were great this year anyway so who needs him.

by Gesome77 on Jan 22, 2012 1:05 PM EST reply actions

The hate for whitner does not have to deal with his play or draft status. Its his mouth and twitter. He felt the need to argue and call bills fan names and really bad stuff. Now he is in the playoffs what does he do with the spotlight rips chan gailey saying he throws players under the bus.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a Harbaugh bowl, but I’d be satisfied with any combination that doesn’t include New England. There is no part of me that ever wants to see New England in a Super Bowl game ever again.

Meh

I could care less, who wins,

Just as long as the games are entertaining and Brady doesn’t win another Super Bowl.

Actually

I just want the Giants to win it all.

That wouldn’t annoy me and since I never thought Old man Coughlin would ever win a Super Bowl, yet alone 2, It would give me more hope for Chan.

the Patriots… Bellicheat, Brady, Welker, Wilfork.. Can’t stand any of them.

Team I can’t stand even more is the New Jersey Giants. Will never forget Superbowl 25.

Have to go Harbaugh Superbowl here…

It’s not like any of that team are on this one, nor their fault Norwood couldn’t put it between the posts.
