Super Bowl XLVI: Ryan Fitzpatrick Likes Patriots Over Giants

Photo

For a second straight year, Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is intimately familiar with football teams playing for league championships.

In 2010, Fitzpatrick was asked by The Dan Patrick Show to appear as a so-called expert on the four teams then competing in last year's conference championship games: the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. The Bills had played all four teams in the regular season (including the Jets twice, giving them an 0-5 record in those games), so Fitzpatrick was a good person to ask about those teams, and particularly their defenses.

This year, Fitzpatrick faced both teams set to compete in Super Bowl XLVI: the New England Patriots (twice) and the New York Giants. (The Bills were 1-2 in those contests.) Per the folks at SiriusXM NFL Radio, Fitzpatrick likes the Patriots to win it all this year - though that's not particularly pleasing to him.

"I'm a Bill, so I don't want to see them win," Fitzpatrick told the station.

Who's with Fitzpatrick, both in game prediction and overall sentiment?

The Giants won earlier this year in Foxboro (without Nix).

The NFC has felt likely the superior conference this year, and the Giants have taken out the three best teams (NO, GB, SF).

The only team with a winning record the Pats have beaten is the Ravens, and that was at home and could have easily been a loss.

I like the Giants to win, and perhaps in a very comfortable margin…. say 30 – 17

disgusting

NO team that didn’t beat a winning team in the regular season and had the EASIEST schedule in the league should be in the playoffs much less the super bowl!!! hoping the refs are honest and the Giants stomp on Brady and the pats again!!! brady’s play in the championship game was HORRIFYING and without the refs bailing him out he would have 4 picks and the PATS would have gone down!!!

I’d argue that any team with the easiest schedule should be in the playoffs, since they had the easiest schedule.

If you start taking SOS into account, then you eventually degrade into the college ranking system, which is garbage.

which is why

Every team should play every other team in the league. That way, you play each team once and get a true feel for how good, or bad, your team is.

Prefer the Giants to win, but the consolation would be Gronk bringing home a Super Bowl ring to WNY..

by PineWoodsBillsFan on Jan 25, 2012 2:32 PM EST reply actions

That’s no consolation. It’d have a Flying Elvis on the ring. The greatest feeling any Bills fan can have is watching the Patriots get demolished in the Super Bowl. They need to feel what it’s like to suffer in that game.

And watching my Patfriend get really pissed off and blame the refs after the game is over!
Again!
Part 2.
Priceless!!!!!!!!

I detect a conspiracy here.

If the Giants had one more loss during the regular season, they would not have made the playoffs. Now lets look at the bills game. Fitzpatrick “accidently” threw those two balls short for interception, leading to a Giants victory. Sureeeeeeee.
If the Pats had one more loss, than they wouldn’t have had home field advantage throughout the playoffs and probably wouldn’t have won the Baltimore game. The second Bills vs. Pats game, Fitzpatrick “mysteriously” starts throwing interceptions after the Bills are up 21-0.

Now I’m not saying that Fitzpatrick bet thousands of dollars on a Giant-Pats superbowl. But when we look deep into the fact of what happened, its hard not to think this is all his doing.

lol

I’m a big conspiracy buff myself, but I’ve got my doubts about this one. Glad to see some outside-of-the-box thinking, though :)

I've gotta agree with Fitzy. I like the Pats for their 4th SB in the last 10 years.

The Pats are the closest thing anyone will see to a dynasty in the cap age, and it’s mainly due to two things: the best coach in football right now and the best quarterback of his generation.

I think it’s going to be a very close game but in the end I see the Pats winning.

If I were a betting Man..Oh wait..I am..

Then I’m going to bet against the guy who led us to a 6-10 record..I think New England will go as the Gronk goes.If He’s less than 80% or can’t play,I think NE goes down hard. He’s that big of a weapon as I see it.The Giants can make Brady uncomfortable enough back there to screw up if His go to guy is hurt.

Have we forgotten Super Bowl XXV?

I know what the Pats have done to us recently, but I can never root for a team that beat Buffalo in a Super Bowl in any subsequent Super Bowl. The Giants were responsible for the single most traumatic event in Bills history, I can’t ever forgive that. Go Pats.

by Future Considerations on Jan 25, 2012 9:13 PM EST reply actions

And I could never, never, never, never, never, NEVER EVER EVER EVER root for a team that beat us 15 games in a row.

LOVE the OVER

I see a shootout with another late Eli scoring drive that elevates him into legendary staus…Giants-34, *Patriots-30. (Brady/ Belicheat 0-2 w/out spying).

Outside the box

How about massive food poisoning at the Saturday breakfast buffet for both teams and ALL the players are down and out for weeks.

Bring back the Ravens and 49ers!

Here's hoping!

The team that beat us in SB XXV? Check.
The team that beat us 15 games in a row? Check.

Even when the Bills aren’t in the Super Bowl, it’s a miserable game for this team.
