Around SBN: 7 Important Questions About The Heat Vs. Celtics Series

I'm having a difficult time listening to, looking at, or believing in Fitzpatrick.

Obviously no one knows me too well on this site, but I'd like to start by saying this isn't a bash on Fitz post (necessarily). And I'm typically not a fan that gets overcome with emotion and just spouts out insane outbursts. In saying that I'd like to get this feeling I have off my chest and use this post as an outlet

Star-divide

I'd compare my attitude towards Fitzpatrick to when you're dating a girl you don't know real well yet and she reveals her crazy side in front of your friends or family for the first time. You break up because you just can't look at her the same. It's almost like your embarrassed for her and then you cringe thinking about her.

Like when Rob Johnson had that sideline look and added insult to injury with that ridiculous bandana on. Like how hopeless Edwards looked on the field and those lifeless post game interviews. I'm getting that same feeling with Fitz. It's like the beginning of the end feeling. I feel even worse that the contract is so big and it leaves you with that trapping feeling that we are stuck watching it play out.

I'd like to think of myself as an optamistic person by nature, but when I reach my point of pesimism with someone or something I really mentally give up on that person or thing. I guess it's my own checks and balance system because I've almost always been right. I extend my optimism as far as it will go.

Then I start getting annoyed. The beard/Amish thing isn't funny anymore. I cringe hearing him talk and even worse when the FO tries to sell him to us.

I'm not bashing on my fellow fans that support him, deep down I hope you're right. But I'm of the opinion if you don't have a QB that gives you a chance to make a playoff run (some call it a franchise QB), then that is your biggest need. I just don't think Fitz, the best pass rusher in the draft, a 2nd tier WR in free agency spells playoffs.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest and rant a bit.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

It’s not a popularity contest. His vibe never bothered me personally. Perhaps a bit sullen later in the year but a massive losing streak will do that to you.
The team plays for him and respects him. That’s all you really need be concerned about.
Like it or not he is the quarterback for the foreseeable future.
I for one like him more for his beard but some people just really aren’t into the viking look.
To each his own…

That is not all we need to be concerned about. How could you not be concerned by his turnovers, accuracy issues and deep ball accuracy?

It’s nice to have a QB that has players rallying around them but that doesn’t make your team successful. We should be cared about winning – something Fitzpatrick isn’t any good at.

Like it or not he is the quarterback for the foreseeable future.

I’d also like to spin this the other way – for all the Fitz supporters (I certainly don’t want him to fail, I just expect him to) they are going to have to put up with the “naysayers” because there is certainly more than sufficient evidence that suggests he will not be a successful QB that can lead this team to a championship.

Yesterday on ESPN's Around The Horn

they were talking about what kind of money Flacco deserves. Woody Paige (goof ball I know), said he won’t get elite QB money but probably Ryan Fitzpatrick money, he said problem is Ryan Fitzpatrick shouldn’t have gotten Ryan Fitzpatrick money and everybody laughed. I’m tired of being the constant whipping post stemmed from our obvious losing ways. Fitz is a microcosm for that.

In terms of personality that is all we need to be concerned about which is after all, the real subject of this post.
The whole championship argument is really not a great barometer for QB. Dan Marino wasnt great? A host of all time great quarterbacks have not one championships.
Anybody else just interested in a successful franchise in terms of winning? Haven’t seen that one in a while, like a decade…

LOL

So Fitz is a better qb for his beard? Man we look for positives in some weird places on this blog. Maybe if Fitz got a manicure we could make play-offs!

I like the beard look considering I wear one. :) Pretty sure being sick of his beard or liking it falls in a non football related category.

i respect u bro

Most people are feeling this and wouldn’t express it as hard as you did..I feel you one hundred percent and when Fitzpatrick threw that last pick against the Chargers I lost it and hated the site of that dumb ass beard. You would think he’d have as a victory tradition beard for when we started off fantastic, but keeping it when you are losing 7 straight just bothers me….the beard goes with the losing its an overall lame situation. I really hope he doesn’t screw up in 2012…breaks a fans heart when their QB is straight garbage (60 million dollars worth of straight garbage).

Why Not?

When they were a healthy team, with a healthy Kyle WIlliams and Merriman and Freddy and Wood, we beat the team representing the AFC and lost by 3 to the team from the NFC. Why is that not a playoff contending team? Key word is healthy, and i dont think the WR core has ever been healthy, so why would you not think that an upgrade would make Fitz look better? I think he has what it takes, but this is one of those bumps along the way. Now, if we are having this talk next year….i agree. But lets see what a healthy team with a full preseason and OTA’s can do.

You may not have meant to turn it into a bashing post, but, that is where this will go. People are right in that those who support him will post good stuff and those who don’t, those who EXPECT him to fail, will post all the odds and junk they cling to as certainty.
Football is played by men, not computerized icons like on Madden. Stats can’t ever predict things like luck and desire. The offense, defense, and special teams are all intertwined. Outside of the Fantastic Five QB’s, every other QB needs help from the other aspects of his team. Last year, Fitz’s defense was well below average and the special teams were very ordinary. The Bills had quite a few injuries to key personnel and it hurt the whole team.
The fact is, he is our starter for at least next year. With a full offseason and OTA’s, good agents signed, good draft, I see no reason why his worse stat, his INT’s won’t go down. When a QB is forced to pass nearly every down, the defense can force any QB into making mistakes. Our defense made it almost impossible for Fitz, or any QB (outside of the Fantastic Five) to succeed. IMO, he deserves a chance to play behind a good defense and see what he can do.

I gave up on Fitz.

Last Year, that pass that sailed 5 feet over roscoe’s head during the Pats game and I was done, he started bringing me back to start this season, but I was back to where I was as the year progressed.

We need a real franchise QB, because Fitz isn’t one.
