Hopefully Chan Is Watching The Saints Right Now

If he is, he will see why he needs to incorporate his running game into the offense better. As I watch this game, the Saints offense is built almost like the Bills is. Sproles is essentially Spiller and Pierre Thomas is Fred Jackson. They are keying the win tonight. Yes, Brees is playing a GREAT game, but when the defense needs to be kept honest, they are running the ball well.

I really hope Chan watches this and sees the light about how have 2 great running backs can make your offense that much more potent. Hopefully Fitz notices how Brees doesn't throw into double coverage and is cool with just throwing a ball away.

As far as I'm concerned, the Bills need about 4-5 quality players (2 Pass Rushers, #1 WR, and upgrade for Drayton Florence and probably a QB, but hopefully an improved team makes Fitz at least passable for a playoff run) to make it to the playoffs. However, even more important, Chan needs to recognize how to use all his players and embrace the run a little more.

The Bills are inching closer to relevance, but an improved D will mean nothing if Chan doesn't stop going 5 wide every play. Hopefully the Saints are showing why a running game is so important even in a pass happy offense.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

2 great running backs?

The Saints have Sproles, Ivory, Thomas, Ingram (hurt) and 18 good wide receivers and TE’s to throw to!
Breeeezz is playing out of his mind tonight. Completely insane.

Chan is watching and drooling wishing that he had all of those weapons.
Real weapons, no UFA WRs.
Doesn’t seem fair, does it?

I’m sorry, but I don’t even see Green Bay stopping this machine.
The Packers cannot run.
The Saints can do everything.

Sidenote: Calvin Johnson is the greatest WR in the history of the NFL.

Larry Fitzgerald. Look at the top five wideouts this year. Then think about who their starting qb is. Larry put thos numbers up with crap at qb and no one else to take attention away from him. In the history of the nfl calvins not even top ten yet. No way I would take calvin johnson before jerry rice in his prime.

Then the Saints are only the second team since 1980 to do that.

Their last possession ended with a kneel-down/end of game, so 5 of 6.

That game

Just showed how far off we are

by fanick82 on Jan 8, 2012 8:10 AM EST reply actions

Idk about that

the Bills defense looked 10x better than the Lions, just because the Bills can actually tackle a RB before he gets 5 yards down field.

Assuming there’s someone there to tackle him, of course…

I hope Chan doesn't read this post!

I think it has to do with the fact that Drew Brees has a good offensive line, but numerous weapons at Receiver and tight end in Jimmy Graham, not to mention a good running game and a dangerous weapon in Sproles out of the backfield – Brees has unbelievable talent around him.

by BuffaloWhiner on Jan 8, 2012 12:50 PM EST reply actions

Breees’ first year in New Orleans, taking over a team that Aaron Brooks led to a 3-13 record, Brees went 10-6. Brees averaged 8 yards per pass attempt while throwing 28 TDs and 11 INTs. He did that with a hobbled Duece McCallister and rookie Reggie Bush in the backfield. He had 7th round rookie Marques Colston and 34 year old Joe Horn. It was Devery Henderson’s 2nd year in the league and he was coming off a 22 catch rookie season. Former Bill, Mark Campbell led all TEs in catches with 18. Going into that season, most would have said he had some of the worst talent in the NFL at the skill positions.

Drew Brees is great because Drew Brees is great. Their offense is absurd because they’ve combined a great QB with great players to play with him.

The Saints have an incredible offensive line! That’s the difference…. Brees has all day and the running backs have holes to run threw!

by tremblay52 on Jan 8, 2012 1:49 PM EST reply actions

Wow!

I knew the Saints set all kinds of passing records this year, but did not know until yesterday that they were in the top 10 in rushing yardage this year. Amazing.

And is there a better WR in the NFL than Johnson (Calvin, that is)? That’s Easley, and I’m not Clowney around at all.
