Broncos vs. Steelers GameThread - NFL Wild Card Playoffs
We're three games into the wild card round of the 2011 NFL playoffs, and we've witnessed a 21-point Houston Texans victory, a 17-point New Orleans Saints victory, and a 22-point New York Giants victory. It's been a weekend to catch up on your sleep, or to knock a few items off of your to-do list.
The weekend finale kicks off now, as the Denver Broncos host the Pittsburgh Steelers. The winner gets the New England Patriots next week. Will it be a fourth straight snooze-fest, or will we actually get to see a competitive football game this weekend? Keep your fingers crossed for the latter...

Blowout next week. Wish Denver lost because Pitt has a lot better chance beating the Hoodies.
Denver will be crushed next week.

and on the bright side…if this years Bills would have had Tebow as U wished we would have officially been the worst team in the NFL and had the first pick overall. Plenty to choose from at number 1! :)
by eriesimmer on Jan 8, 2012 5:57 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
an ignorant statement...
that will never be proven one way or the other….
Regardless of what you may think of Tebow as a QB, he is a great team mate, willing to run through a brick wall for his team… Likewise, because of that from their “leader”, the team is willing to do the same for him….
Leadership is born, not a learned trait… And our Bills have been sorely lacking in the TRUE leadership department since Flutie, and arguably, maybe even Kelly…
Optimistic??? Of course I am!! I'm a Bills fan, and as of right now, we are undefeated on the regular season!!!
Things are truly looking up!!!
how is that ignorant? if u really think that tebow equals high scoring output in a way that could have made up for our defense being lit up then by all means keep dreaming. I like tebow but you imply his character would alone will us to victory with a porus defense behind him. Sounds like you probably still believe the earth is flat too.

tebow magic is the “lightning in a bottle,” “magical run,”….blah blah blah..everybody loves to cheer for including me.
I really want him to do well. He is a great guy but he needs to improve his game and hopefully he gets a chance. His character and drive will only go so far and I fear it stops dead in its tracks if they make it to the next round.

And James Harrison is a dirty SOB. He better get a fine for that hit. I can’t wait until someone gives him some of his own medicine.

yeah you can tackle a guy low unless he's the QB
it was a clean hit
by billsfan4life on Jan 8, 2012 5:32 PM EST up reply actions
I don’t know the answer to that when it’s not QB. It’s definitely not allowed vs QB today. It’s not so much that I hate the hit, because it’s football. It’s that he KNOWS it’s an illegal hit yet he continues to do them. He’s clearly not playing with a full deck of cards and that’s why I think he’s a dirty player. He’s like Romanowski, so maybe this is some karma for Denver.

I agree ...... he is dirty.
But he has been killed with fines, the media, etc for “helmet to helmet” hits.
So what do you expect him to do?
He went low because that’s what God dell wants.
And the product is a hurt player.
Blame the league. Next year, you won’t be able to tackle a WR after he catches for 5 yards.
That’s why every record offensively (or so it seems) has been broken this year.
Defenses hands are tied.

by SERGEANT MAJOR THOR on Jan 8, 2012 5:34 PM EST up reply actions
Oh, definitely. But because he doesn’t understand the rule in the era he plays within, he’s trash to me.
I get that it’s unfair, but it’s for the best interest of players’ health. Defenders control collisions on most occasions. Offensive players are the ones at risk most of the time. I guarantee you Decker didn’t even think Harrison would be coming into the play to take his knee out.
"Go check on the ribs!"
by TheAfghanTwilight on Jan 8, 2012 5:36 PM EST up reply actions
I think every great defense could still play well if they took away the direct shoulder to planted leg knee tackle. The offenses are running wild this year due to other stuff — the nearly complete elimination of offensive holding calls, and tight rule enforcement against DB’s.
how are DBs going to tackle RBs or TEs if they cant hit them low?
They can’t take that kind of hit away
by billsfan4life on Jan 8, 2012 5:50 PM EST up reply actions
He leads with his head as a weapon. That by definition is a dirty player. Harrison does not smack a guy with his shoulder. He leads with his head to a vital part of you body ie head and knees to try and hurt or end a guys carear. Then he sees a hard legal hit and does not understand how that hit was legal telling the league they should fine the guy. If he stopped directly aiming for the head every tackle he would not get fined so much. He is shortening his carear for one he is already having back problems and has a posdibillity to end up like kevin everrett every time he tackles.

but he doesn’t make too many other throws, PIT is going to have to drop a safety back into coverage to help

he dominated the broncos, miller was a non factor in that game.

Miller would have been a good pick for us, but without someone like Dareus in front of him he likely wouldn’t have come close to producing as well as he did this year.

Denver’s pass rush has been wicked all year. But yeah, I’d much rather have our OL than theirs.
They’re having the same snapping problem we had in the first Miami game. It was down and to the left from Levitre to Fitzpatrick, all the shotgun snaps to Big Ben are basically right at his nose.

Israel went through this at one point. They had strayed and had started to follow a god called Baalim. I think you would be interested in what happened. You can find it in 1 Kings 18:16-19:1 (I would suggest that you read chapters 17 also afterward to get a better idea of what happened). Your words are familiar.
No. I think you misunderstand me. I thought you would have liked to see what God did to prove that he was the true God—and not Baalim.

Actually the common thread I saw between all the winning teams ...
Is that 3 of the leading recievers for each of the winning teams: Andre Johnson, Hakeem Nicks, Demaryius Thomas where drafted in the first round.
Throw in the fact that the 2nd leading receiver for the Saints, Robert Meachem is also a first round pick and of course the big numbers put up by Calvin Johnson and solid game from Julio Jones.
We need a game changer at the receiver position … having a corps of undrafted free agents at WR isn’t good enough.

All the winning teams were at home, played great on defense when it mattered most, and held the better QB in the game.
Roethlisberger may have cost his team a win by being so stubborn. He looked like a 65 year-old man out there.
