We've had a lot of people complaining lately about content going missing on Buffalo Rumblings, particularly with regards to discussions on the new SB Nation United platform. Since those have reached a fever pitch lately, I'd like to mention a few things here to try to alleviate some of your questions and concerns.
No. 1: Read our Community Guidelines - or, if you've already read them, re-read them. 99.9 percent of the deletion issues brought up of late are covered on that page. Bookmark it, or access it any time under the "Library" drop-down at the top of the River (right under the cover). Note that the "Community Guidelines" link under "About" is NOT the same link; that shows you the rules you agreed to when you joined the blog.
No. 2: Clearly, the commentariat here feels a pressing need to discuss the new Rumblings platform. I'll be writing another Tutorial post for this coming week, so queue up your venting for that article. In the meantime, email firstname.lastname@example.org with comments, complaints or suggestions about the new blog. We've been on the new platform for almost three weeks now. It's time to start not talking about the blog so much and start talking about the Bills again (not that I can't understand your motives for trying to distract yourselves from the Bills).
No. 3: The biggest part of the problem with deleted comments spawning complaints about deleted comments comes from my not addressing the initial deletion in the first place. I get that, and take responsibility for it. Everyone that runs this blog has a million other things going on, always. I'm going to be better about addressing everything from this point forward, but please keep in mind that responses may not always be snappy.
No. 4: It's incredibly unlikely that the guidelines will be changing. We've been doing this for a long time. We know what it takes to keep a family-friendly blog on the up and up. The rules are strict; they're still the rules. You're welcome to make suggestions or yell in all caps about the rules, but you still have to follow them. Again, we'll do better explaining the rules than we have, and that starts with this post.
No. 5: Comments on this post have been closed - because if you have anything at all to say about this, it should be emailed to me (email@example.com).
Thanks for dealing with a (hopefully one-time) PSA. Now... let's get back to football, shall we? Go Bills.
