I was going to update this StoryStream when the third quarter ended, but I figured I'd just wait until the San Francisco 49ers scored again. 48 seconds into the fourth quarter, they did, with Alex Smith connecting with Mario Manningham for an 10-yard score to extend their lead to 31-3.
Continuing the mind-boggling stat parade, the 49ers are now up to 490 total yards of total offense. Smith is 18-22 for 303 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions. He has not been sacked. The ground game, paced by Frank Gore (96 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries), is up to 187 yards on the day. Buffalo couldn't stop a lingerie league football team right now.
The best stat of them all: in their last five-plus quarters, the Bills have been outscored 76-10 by the 49ers and New England Patriots. It's extremely fair to argue that in that time frame, the Bills have been, by far, the worst team in the NFL.
Only 14 minutes to go, and then we can kill off the hangover on a national holiday. Just the way we wanted to spend it.
