Bills vs. Patriots: Rian Lindell Brings Buffalo To Within 10-3

Stay connected for news and updates

Rian Lindell kicked a 41-yard field goal with 12:07 remaining in the second quarter to bring the Buffalo Bills back to within a touchdown of the New England Patriots. The home Patriots now lead the visiting Bills 10-3.

Lindell's field goal capped off an 11-play, 57-yard drive that might have yielded more points had Chris Hairston not been flagged for a hold on 3rd and short. C.J. Spiller did not gain a first down on the play, but Chan Gailey may have been compelled to try for a first down on 4th and inches. Instead, Ryan Fitzpatrick took a sack on third down and the Bills settled for a field goal.

Fred Jackson converted an early 3rd & 16 on the drive, and Donald Jones had a 22-yard reception on a play-action fake to set up Buffalo's first score of the game.

New England gets the ball back having scored on their first two possessions of the game. Buffalo may not be within one score of New England for very long here.
