Watched the game at a bar here in West Bend, WI, as the Packers were off this week, and that allows plenty of elbow room. Anyway, it was a frustrating game, but for some reason I enjoyed it for the most part. Certainly my expectations were low going in, and I guess it's a sad state of affairs when you take pride in your team keeping it close rather than winning. I admire the way they fought to stay in it. Some thoughts:
* Defense stunk. I don't know how they can be this bad, but they are. Wannstedt is a joke, but at this point you just have to keep the young guys in there and let them take their lumps.
* Penalties. Not much to say here. Total lack of discipline.
* Turnovers. Fitzy 1st quarter fumble, FredEx two fumbles, one on the 1 yd line, kinda makes it tough to win.
In spite of all that they were in it until the end. In spite of playing a good smart game, Fitz couldn't get it done when it counted, which is why he's a middling QB at best. I know I'm going to regret this, but I think they're on the right track, whatever that means. If they can shore up the D (probably not this year) they can win. I saw a lot of good things, which is why it doesn't hurt as much as it should.
