Colts 13, Bills 6 At Halftime: Second Half Live Chat

Jared Wickerham

Buffalo Bills fans discuss the second half of today's game against the Indianapolis Colts. Indy leads 13-6 at halftime.

Once again, the Buffalo Bills can't get out of their own way in a competitive football game.

T.Y. Hilton returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter to give the Indianapolis Colts an early 7-0 lead, and the two teams traded field goals for the remainder of the half. Indy leads the Bills 13-6 at halftime.

Buffalo is in this game, but if they weren't their usual frustrating selves, they might be more than just "in it". The Bills have made two more trips into the red zone offensively, and came away with two field goals as the drives came to brutal and screeching halts. Chan Gailey passed up a 51-yard field goal opportunity for Rian Lindell in the cozy confines of Lucas Oil Stadium, then dialed up a terrible last-minute offensive series that gave the ball back to the Colts before the half, allowing Indy to tack on another field goal.

The Bills are struggling to protect the passer, with Robert Mathis in particular giving right tackle Chris Hairston fits. They've given up a return score for the second consecutive week. C.J. Spiller has just eight carries (for 51 yards), and Ryan Fitzpatrick has twice missed receivers wide open down the field (though he did hit Stevie Johnson for a 63-yard catch and run). Andrew Luck has converted easy first downs with his feet. The Bills couldn't turn a rare Andrew Luck home interception into points.

That's just off the top of my head. The Bills are a frustrating team to watch every week, but they are especially frustrating today - they weren't at all able to capitalize on a pedestrian half of football from the Colts, even though the opportunities were there. But again, they're still in it, and they open the third quarter with the football. Let's go Buffalo!
