Bills vs. Dolphins Live Chat, NFL Week 16: Second Half

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Bills are showing faint signs of life on defense and their offense is living on C.J. Spiller. Let's hope the second half is better than the first.

The Buffalo Bills defense played one of their best games of the year against the Miami Dolphins five weeks ago, holding them to just 184 yards. Miami has eclipsed that total in the first half this week and hold a 14-3 edge on the scoreboard.

Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins offense is pulling a page from the Seattle Seahawks playbook, as the read-option was a big part of Miami's plan in the second quarter. The rookie quarterback has 43 yards rushing on three designed rushing plays to add to 72 yards rushing from Reggie Bush and rookie Lamar Miller. He also added a touchdown pass to Bush where the former USC Trojan appeared to step out of bounds.

Buffalo's lone highlight came on a 61-yard C.J. Spiller run. It was vintage Spiller who took an inside handoff, bounced it out to his right, and turned on the burners. A shoestring tackle attempt slowed him down and he was overtaken at Miami's 23. Stevie Johnson caught what appeared to be the game-tying touchdown later in the drive but lost control when he hit the ground despite "making a football move" and taking two or three steps. NFL rules are awesome!

Spiller has 100 yards on the ground and 15 more through the air. Johnson has a fumble and two drops in a game where he says he is playing for his coach's job. Fitzpatrick has been mostly accurate except when he's asked to heave it downfield.

This game is a battle of wills - with fans. Do they stay and watch the second half? You obviously are! Discuss it here.
