Second Half Game Thread: Bills Lead Rams, 6-0

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Bills have squandered opportunities as they hold a slim 6-0 lead over the St. Louis Rams at halftime.

The Buffalo Bills were seemingly up 10-0 near the end of the second quarter but a touchy penalty negated an interception return for a touchdown by Stephon Gilmore. The penalty was on the return, though, and Buffalo kept the ball and added a late field goal. A red zone fumble by Fred Jackson has also kept the Bills from blowing this game wide open.

The Bills' defense held the St. Louis Rams out of Buffalo territory until roughly the two-minute warning and hurried quarterback Sam Bradford repeatedly. The Rams running game got going in the second quarter but without Danny Amendola at wide receiver, the Rams have had trouble moving the ball to the tune of just 71 yards.

Ryan Fitzpatrick has been taking big hits all afternoon behind a patchwork offensive line but still has 169 yards on 17-for-21 passing. C.J. Spiller has just ten yards rushing on four carries while Fred Jackson has zero and the fumble on five carries but the play-action passing attack has worked well for Chan Gailey.

Buffalo kicks off to start the third quarter. They hold a more than 2-to-1 lead in time of possession but they'll need to lean on their defense again.
