I think that today's loss to the Rams rests on 1 play, the decision to punt instead of kicking a 52 yards field goal. If Lindell makes that kick we go up 15-7, and the rest of the game takes a much different tone.
Instead Gailey, once again, shows that he has absolutely no faith in Lindell's ability to kick the long ball. Now admittedly this problem has more to do with Gailey's play calling philosophy (surprise surprise!) than it does with Lindell, as you could see that he was PISSED when he got called off the field with the time out.
The problem here is Gailey playing not to lose instead of playing to win. And that particular play rests with Gailey's lack of faith in Lindell. Which has now created a very clear need at Kicker for the Bills. Because either we replace Gailey or we replace Lindell. My preference would be replacing both, but let's be honest, that wont happen.
So the Bills need to aggressively go after a kicker this upcoming off season. Either sign one from the CFL (Plenty of great kickers there) or draft one, because this "being afraid to kick it from 50" is getting real old, real fast, and most importantly, is costing the Bills some games.
This needs to get fixed!
