Typical

Couldn't really expect much different of an outcome could we? Defense continues to show improvement, Spiller inexplicably disappears from a game, Fitzpatrick continues to throw erratically except to the other teams defense (he is always dead-on accurate to those guys). Yes, this is Buffalo Bills football as it is truly meant to be played! Getting pretty close to the time for us to dust off all the "Bold Predictions" from the beginning of the season to see how they pan out. I think quite a lot of people thought playoffs, that is just silly, we are Buffalo! :)

Hopefully a few posts will stop coming up ever again after this loss:

1) Bills making the playoffs talk in any way shape or form in 2012. Mathematically doesn't count. Most of us probably suck at math anyways. Lord knows the Bills do, seeing as they can't figure out how to get Spiller more carries. 1+1+1+1+1+1+1=7 carries, yea that sounds good for him. I can't count any higher than 7, so let's just stop giving him carries at this point. How many does Freddy have? 9? Really? Oh well.

2) Awesome Defense + Spiller having a great day (ie: 100+ yards, and a TD or two) is a winning formula. Ok this needs to die a quick death right now, and NOT because it doesn't work, but BECAUSE we HAVE to be able to win other ways! And guess what? Even that formula doesn't guarantee us a win! I'm really sick of everyone after the Defense and Spiller both showing up to have great games, then they all point out "That will win us games". Yea, sure it will, maybe a few, but what about the other 6 to 9 games we need to win to get to the playoffs? Just curious, how are we going to win those? Because as I have mentioned and others have mentioned before, that formula doesn't happen often, and won't happen often. Didn't happen today now did it? At least 6 or 7 times out of 10, something won't be working during gameday, and we need to find other ways to win. I don't want one winning formula, I want a bunch so we can actually make it to the playoffs and be contenders regularly!

3) We can win games with Fitzpatrick: Kind of the same as point #2. Sure we can. Maybe 5 to 7 a year at most? Last time I checked that has us pulling up short of the playoffs year in and year out. Yep, not every game this year can be put on his shoulders, but he sure as hell hasn't done anything to suggest we can do anything other than being mediocre or much worse with him at the helms. I think he is a smart, tough player, but his physical talents are severely lacking. And his intelligence doesn't translate well during gameplay. That and his accuracy is just bad, really really bad. I sincerely hope we make a move if necessary to get a QB in the 2013 draft, or just take one with our first pick. It will take one of the two, because our 2nd pick won't be good enough to get the guy we want.

4) Changes to the coaching staff shouldn't happen mid-season: Ummmmmm there is no reason why we shouldn't be making changes if are staff (Head Coach) continues to make bad decisions. If anything it will prep players for the fact that their will be a new coach next year, and get them well prepared instead of trying to guess in the offseason and waiting to find out their coaches fate. There is absolutely nothing to gain keeping Gailey at this point, if there is any thought in Nix's mind or Wilsons' mind that they want to go with someone else. Interim coach will be just fine, and hopefully help us lose some more games to get a better pick. And please spare me the "you should be rooting for the bills to win every week" talk, because quite honestly, I want to root for what will help the Bills more in the long run, and chances are a higher pick will help a lot more in the long run than winning the next few games! We have been through the "finishing the season with momentum" BS before, it doesn't mean anything. Seriously, it doesn't. Unless you head into the playoffs, it really doesn't matter.

I think I'm done with my rant for now, but maybe will have some more later, maybe not. I'd still rather see Fitzpatrick signed as our Head Coach right now in place of Chan Gailey, because he will end up being a heck of a lot better coach than a QB.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
