Quintin Orakpo?
Hi all
First up, apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere. I've not seen it if so.
I just wanted to put out there how similar I'm finding the Coples opinions from Rumblers (and some media) to the pre-draft opinions on Brian Orakpo.
I definitely remember thoughts on Orakpo being weighted towards him being a serious athletic specimin, a fit at DE or OLB with potential immediate impact BUT having motor issues. The Longhorns/Mike Willaims factor came into this, as did some underwhelming at times college play and him being seeing as a "workout warrior", a la Gholston the year before. To some very prominent Rumblers, Orakpo was a flatout no.
Hindsight is 20/20. Who new for sure Orakpo would be as good as he is. All I'm saying is, I'm wary of falling into the trap of ruling Coples out for what appear to be very similar concerns to a now stud pass rusher. I would welcome Coples at #10.
(Also, I recommend looking back at some of the articles from 2009 offseason. Loads going on including Peters trade, Lynch's felony, discussion on Clay Matthews to the Bills and Terrel Suggs being looked at in a "Potential Bills" series(!) How we would have loved those last two....! Even though at the time Matthews was not a scheme fit. And one last thing that struck me from 2009 posts.... who really was Geronimo and where on earth has he been?! I used to love that guy. I'm guessing he was part of Jaron's staff....?)
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Coples
I think he’s a well rounded pass rusher that has the size and strength to play with his hand in the dirt and the athleticism to drop back occasionally. I don’t know that he’s ever been accused of being a workout warrior. He’s got a good plethora of pass rush moves and his technique is solid – If I remember correctly Orakpo didn’t have an arsenal of moves like Coples does (I may be wrong though).
Either way, I think the biggest question with Coples is his motor and his drive but a lot of that may just be media perception. I think if I was Chix I would be looking hard into his background, talking to his coaches from high school and at UNC, teammates etc and see if there is any truth to the rumors about his lack of desire/motor. I think there is some solid veteran leadership on our d-line that will keep this kid in line and if I think I am willing to take that risk then I would not hesitate to draft this guy. He is very talented.
Honestly, with all that was going on at UNC the past two years scandal and suspension wise, if he only gave 80%, I’m not sure I would even be mad. I think what went on there had to be even tougher than just being a bad team and losing a lot. They should have been playing for a national championship two years ago — they had the greatest team that never was (was it 9 of 11 starters on D that were suspended?).

If this wasn't a make or break year
they might consider it. But, they need to get it right this year. I will also add that people with personality issues tend to self destruct down the road. TO, Chad soontobeunemployedsinco, and Randy Moss were all great talents who had “issues” and drove a team apart. This bothers me too as a potential occurrence. We have already seen the “bickering bills 1.0” and we don’t need a second version.
I'd rather go out in a blaze of glory, then slowly fade away in the antiquities of time.
I remember seeing an interview at the Senior Bowl game with Coples. He said he was getting constant double teams this past season. So he felt the effort was there. I’m sure the Bills will review the games to see if this is so. I think if Coples is there when we pick, he will be a Bill.
Are we drafting Dino's now?

I think if Coples is there when we pick,
I remain convinced that if we really want him, we have to get in front of Carolina.

that is a possibility, but, there biggest problem is at DT. I could see them taking top DT with the pick, but would not put it past them to go with someone from home like Coples either.
