Brandon Lloyd WR for the Biils?
I was just wondering why nobody is mentioning Brandon Lloyd's name when they are talking about potential WR's for the Bills in free agency. From what I've seen of him in Denver, and even in St. Louis for that matter, he is a huge target with some of the best hands, no wait, the best hands in the NFL right now. He consistently gets down field and continues to make amazing plays on the ball. I feel he would be the best WR we could have a chance for in the offseason.
Now I'm not sure if he is a free agent this year but from what I've been hearing he is not expected back in St. Louis this year, my guess would be he played out the remainder of his contract that carried over from Denver in the trade, but I'll need your guys help to clarify what is going on with his contract. If the opportunity arises that we can get him I would say forget everyone else and make him the top priority WR in free agency. My reasons for this are he has the most upside of any other free agent WR, he has all the tools Buddy and most of us have said we need to add to our current WR core, and he could come at a cheaper price then some of the other free agent WRs, points that I will further explain after the jump.
I'll start with the point that I expect most of my fellow rumblers to disagree to a point, I billieve that he has the most upside of any available WR this year, for the record I don't foresee DeSean Jackson or Pierre Garcon making to free agency. I live in Las Vegas and being that I'm on the west coast (thank God for Sunday ticket) I've seen a lot of him while he was in Denver. He has an uncanny ability to go up and get the ball no matter the defender, also he is tall and has good speed to get open down the field. Now with D. Jackson (franchised) and P. Garcon (resigned) back with their respective teams that would mean that the main targets left would be V.Jackson, D.Bowe, and M.Colston, I don't feel there is another WR I would consider to be at that level. Of the remaining three he is younger than D.Bowe and has never had alligator arms like I have seen from Bowe when hes not happy, could say the same for V.Jackson too, Colston I would consider a good consolation prize but I think he is a product of the system and Brees, he could become great but why take a chance when Brandon has proved he is great on any team.
Buddy Nix has stated that he wants a guy who is open even when hes not, well I think we've all seen some of the spectacular catches he's made while having a defender draped over him like Superman's cape. As I mentioned earlier his size and speed is a great compliment to the rest of our WRs, as long as we resign Stevie which we better do.
With my final point I feel for some reason he is not being talked about this offseason and might be able to sign him the way the Bills like, without having to be involved in a bidding war. This all depends on what is up with his contract situation, but if he does become a free agent with all the big names out there he would fly a bit under the radar and teams might not be involved if they like another guy better. I feel this would allow Buffalo to offer him a fair but good deal and be firmly in the mix. I won't try and go all GM with a deal they could offer him because I am just not qualified to do so, but I think adding him to the Bills roster would give us one of the best one two punches at WR and allow us to focus on Defense in the draft, I would love to hear some thoughts from you guys on this and maybe some good insight on why he has been so under the radar this offseason.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Lloyd said he will follow Josh Mcdainels were ever he goes and he is their new OC.

Like the year 2008, when Matt Cassel was starter ? The Patriots are much more than Tom Brady, unfortunately.

I don't really think so
At that time the Patriots had a much better D and also Josh McD’s playbook with a team that knew it well. I think the Patriots now without Brady would not be anything to write home about, but I have been wrong before.
except it was a super bowl team
They had just went 18-1 the year before, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t just Brady. They had Vrabel, Bruski and Seymour still on D along and Randy Moss as their primary receiver. This wasn’t the Patriots of today who are a shell of themselves

A shell that nearly won another Super Bowl this month.

That Shell had Brady back though too.
Back to the OP though, I wouldn’t ruffle my feathers over Lloyd. Not that impressed by him.

he adds something they have been lacking since Moss left
any improvement for them, hurts us. I rather not see him there, but like Kyle points out… he could very well follow McDaniels there.

Good Point
Most likely NE but they don’t have a good relationship with his agent Tom Condon.
According to rotoworld, McDaniels will have a lot of lobbying to do to get him to sign with NE.
You want a sleeper WR in FA for the Bills.
Jericho Cotchery. I ca.n see the Bills signing him

The best possible WR situation next year would be Stevie and Garcon, i would love that

Lloyd would be very good
What about Laurent Robinson? I’ve heard nothing of him mentioned on here. He had a sick run with the cowboys last year and is a FA. I think he could be a relative bargain and is just entering his prime. He fits the bill as a larger target and averaged 16 yd a catch and proved that he is a potent red zone threat as well.

I'm glad some of you agree
I figured I would get more reasons why not, Laurent Robinson would be good but he is just a little unproven for me. If not Brandon then I would want Colston first then VJax after that I would consider Laurent.
FYI: I snuck this post in at work so I might not get to reply as soon as I would like but I will whenever I can, Thanks for reading my post.
Lloyd
First few years in the NFL he bounced around a lot, mainly due to what I’ll call attitude issues. He always flashed talent but didn’t put it together until Denver. Last year he (and Denver) struggled early, then he was traded to StL…once there, with not much else around him, and an injured Bradford, he actually put up relatively solid numbers. I think the last two years he’s proven his talent and attitude. What I’m build to here is that he’s got number 1 skills, and I would love to see him in Buffalo. Whether that’s even remotely possible I don’t know, but a combination of Lloyd and Stevie with Nelson in the slot…a healthy Easley getting a chance to grow…I’d be game!

dont forget about Clowney he has wheels,no matter what they do with stevie and chandler they have to add Green or Egnew in the draft, a for Laurent Robinson I would sign him, if nothing else teams would have to respect his speed and that would open up thngs for Nelson Chandler and Johnson, i so hope Easley is healthy this season he could be such an amazing WR
I'm interested to see what Clowney can do
Haven’t seen enough of him to have a good judgement but he is intrigueing. I really want a big to tall that can go up and get the ball at its highest point we haven’t had a reciever that can do that well since Moulds, I would think a guy like Clowney could help but he might turn out to be like Hank Basket big preseason but disapears against the big boys
Lloyd
Always been a fan of his since his San Fran days but I don’t see the bills signing him. I still think he will resign with st. Louis (I mean why did they trade for him when their qb was injured and the yr was basically shot for them) unless they planned on resigning him. If not I see a team with a much larger need at WR pursuing him and throwing a lot of $ his way (teams like Cleveland and Jacksonville come to mind) and overpaying for his services. It certainly isn’t put of the question that he could be a bill (especially if we let Stevie go) but I don’t see it happening.

Sound Arguement
My gut tells me the new coaching staff doesn’t feel they need him as much as Spags did or he would already be resigned.
As far as other teams with bigger needs that could very well happen, my thought was there are so many good WRs available this year they would chase a bigger name, but that all depends on who gets tagged or resigned between now and FA starts.
Yup exactly
For now it’s all just speculation. Good point about the new coaching staff never really considered that part and it definitely could be a factor. I don’t check the rams site or blog much so I don’t know how many talks (if any) they have had with him. From an outsider looking in it could very much look like the Stevie situation. That if the bills really wanted Stevie back he would have been resigned by now, but sometimes it takes up to the last minute to get that deal done.
