The Only Way The Bills Make The Playoffs in 2012
We really need to address the defense strongly. We have to match the intensity of the Jets defense and have a better one to beat Tom Brady and the Pats at least once. Our offense should be really better pending we add a real #2 to compliment Stevie Johnson. It makes life easier for Ryan Fitzpatrick. Pass rush, pass rush, and some more pass rush!! Also at least 1 more starting corner McGee and Mckelvin are not cutting it. I see McGee bring released though and Mckelvin sticking around for 1 more year the most. Pass rushers I have Mario Williams, Robert Mathis, Anthony Spencer(underrated) who was a better pure rusher in a 4-3 what he played in College, and Cliff Avril. Any 1 of these guys would upgrade us like crazy. But we shouldn't stop there with the 10th pick in the draft I see us taking a pass rusher, Courtney Upshaw and Nick Perry fit the bill. An upgraded defense is the only way we make the playoffs, because our offense is going to be good. And we cannot afford to be playing from behind every game to try and get a win. If the defense is really upgraded like top 10 to 15 in the league. Then I would give the Buffalo Bills 10 or 11 wins next season at the very least 9-7 record. Nix and Chan know they have to make something happen this season if they want to keep their jobs, so don't be surprises if the Bills are big players in free agency. Its make it or break it time in BUFFALO!!
Side Note: What happens in Free Agency will affect the draft process in April.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

with that head line, those post should be two words:
stay healthy.
Its fun to think quarterback, but i think the odds of nix taking one in the first are close to 0%.

hopefully that will be enough.
i remain skeptical that we can accomplish it, or that in and of itself, that we can succeed simply by not having so many injuries.

A-MEN
Staying healthy would go a long way. Look at SF, 5, yes, FIVE, guys lost all year. That is crazy healthy. We need a year like that. Or , if we do lose guys, we lose guys that are good, but, not stars (like Meatball).
I'd rather go out in a blaze of glory, then slowly fade away in the antiquities of time.
I think the goal should be to get more depth. I don’t think we want to rely on luck to stay healthy and that is pretty much all that it is in my opinion. Green Bay was able to win the Super Bowl with a ridiculous number of people on IR and if I remember correctly so were the Patriots. Depth should be the goal. Injuries are going to happen.
stay healthy, find experienced depth, not other teams cuts!!!, and find some defensive studs, a DE,OLB, CB… defense wins championships!!!
The harder you work, the luckier you get!
Other teams cuts
Don’t matter. If they are good players that lose out to the numbers game, fine. Ubrik is a starter now, off waivers. So was Pears. Both are above average players. There is nothing wrong with searching the cans of teams that might cut the wrong guy or might keep the vet over the unknown commodity b/c they are going for the playoffs or whatever….

Nice Thoughts
Avril,or,Mathis is what it boils down to.Spencer is NOT leaving Dallas, and,no matter how bad I want him….Mario is not coming to the Bills.Thats reality folks.I DO like the post though.
I agree: nice thoughts. I also believe Spencer might be slightly more affordable than Avril and hope that he does become available (and somewhat doubt Dallas will franchise him). I agree with a pass rusher in the first round but disagree that Upshaw is a good fit – he’s a MUCH better fit as a 3-4 OLB than a 4-3 RDE. I like the idea of trading down and still getting either Mercilus, Perry, or Ingram but even if the trade down doesn’t happen I’d prefer to see the Bills taking one of those 3 rather than Upshaw. Just my preference.
would Upshaw not be one of those “quick” LB’s Wannstedt wants. And I am sure if he had him there would be LB blitz packages designed for him which could pressure the QB in key pass situations and stop drives. Basically I will take pass rush from wherever we can get it whether it be from a DE or a blitzing LB.

No; Upshaw is not "quick" nor is he a fit at OLB for a 4-3 base defense
Regardless of all that I keep reading about him I don’t see the Bills using the #10 pick on Upshaw. I do see them drafting a RDE candidate (i.e., Mercilus; Perry; Ingram) plus a good pass rushing SLB (oh please let it be McClellin) as well as signing a veteran RDE (i.e., Anthony Spencer) to address the woeful pass rushing issue. I know Upshaw can get to the QB but he’s a much, much, much better fit in a 3-4 defense. Sorry.
agreed except...
..If we can get an above average pass rusher I would go CB with that #10 pick if Claiborne or Kirkpatrick is available..

Kirkpatrick...don't understand
He isn’t that good of a Cornerback. Jenkins is better than him. I mean it is great that Kirkpatrick is a tall guy at 6 foot 2
But he doesn’t get INTs and doesn’t make a ton of big plays.
He is more of a Free Safety and doesn’t have the Speed to handle the NFL.
not going to get williams avril and doubtful on mathis as he is a pass rush specialist . anthony spencer would be (in my opinion) easily the best fit and most likely player that buffalo can target .
Agreed on Spencer. I still see the Bills spending the #10 pick on another pass rushing DE
prospect like Mercilus, Perry; or Ingram. I also see them separately drafting a SLB prospect who has serious pass rush ability; I like Boise State’s Shea McClellin an awful lot in Round 3 for that role. An awful lot.
ur points
i think for any team staying healthy is crucial for sucess very few exceptions were not one. I also agree that we will be very active in free agency which is making me feel like a little kid on christmas i cant wait to see who we get. i really hope robert mathis. and a big time wr.
