Full Disclosure: I did not watch an Alabama, or any other college football games, last year or any youtube videos. My comments are strictly based on information gathered from my internet wanderings.
There is a country song which has the hook line: Lightening does the work, thunder is just a noise.
When I read about Courteny Usphaw and Donta Hightower, this line keeps coming back to me over and over. Upshaw seems to be the flashy linebacker who grabs the headlines (Thunder) and Hightower seems to be the one who just makes plays (LIghtening).
I read how Upshaw does not have the speed to the things that he did at Alabama, in the NFL. I hear how Upshaw is this great player who always seems to have a qualifier attached. I it is my humble belief that this draft is deep enough that the Bills should not have to draft a player described with qualifiers with the tenth pick unless the words "Franchise Quarterback" are in the sentence. As the draft draws nearer, I expect Courtney Upshaw's stock to drop.
When I read about HIghtower, I read about a linebacker who has the speed to play sideline-to-sideline, consistently makes plays, and has plays wherever asked. As the draft draws nearer, I expect Hightower's stock to rise slightly.
My bottom line is that I expect both players to be drafted between 11 and 32, with Buffalo picking neither.
My fantasy is that I am wrong and Hightower slips to the second round and we pick him to be the SAM starter/MLB backup. My other fantasy is that we trade-down and pick him, but that does not seem likely either.
These are thoughts that have been rattling around my brain for the last month or so and have not been painstakingly researched. So, feel free to agree, disagree, rip, burn, tear, or even call me a ignorant bum. Just do not call me a Dolphins fan.
