If you were GM how would you run a team

The title says it all I'm not referring to how you would run the bills per say, but a NFL team and what kind of GM would you be.

what do you look for in a coach what type of coach would you go for a hotshot coordinator or a grizzled vet

How would you scout players, what interests you in a player Size Speed Game tape etc.

What type of free agents do you go for .

How do you play the draft do you stay do you trade down or trade up, would you Ditka a draft or two in his case for one player ( in case you dont know Mike Ditka traded away the saints entire 1999 draft picks and a 1st and 3rd in 2000 to move up 7 spots for Ricky Williams )

would you cut bait on picks or FAs that dont pan out

I'll tell you what type of GM i am

when looking for a coach i look for hard nose no nonsense work till the whistle

in the coordinators i look for creativity with plays and formations

i would have my team play 4 down football make the other team earn the ball

my reason behind 4 down football is less yards per play are needed for a 1st

3 downs =3.3333333 yards per play

4 downs 2.5 yards per play

keeps your defense off the field and theirs on the field

when looking for players i tend to look at size and speed at the outside positions cornerbacks and wide receivers have to be over 6 feet in my book and be in the 4.3-4.5 range

QBs I prefer the west coast QB does not need super arm strength just good pocket presence and the know how to throw the ball away when the internal clock hits 4 seconds

RBs I like the big 230 plus up the middle no dancing run you over punch you in the face

FBs I look for big guys maybe smaller tackles for goalline situations and short yardage i would not waste a spot on this position

TEs i like blocking tight ends with some redzone threat the taller the better

with lineman on the offensive side i like big strong road grating type players 6'5+ 320 pounds dont need to be quick just push people around

on the defensive side the ends need to be in the 270 range with decent speed and the defensive tackles in the 300 + pound one gap penetrating players

linebackers need to be over 6'3 and be at least 250 im looking for run stopping up the middle type backers

heres the kicker i like the FS and SS to be under 6 feet i want them to disappear behind the backers and lineman creating the illusion of the deep middle being open

FreeAgents I would not spend a lot of money on these players i would go for players who have been in the league 8+ years on the down slope of their careers for 1 to 2 year contracts use these players as mentors/developers to the players i draft

i dont really see a need to get a high dollar guy unless he was under 28 and i felt he could put the team over the top

Draft

I dont put a high premium on positions that are easy to replace IE WR RB TE and i wouldnt spend a first round pick on any of those positions

i dont like to trade up i am more of a stay put trade down type i do love picks i routinely trade down in madden to stock up on pick in the later rounds i would never Ditka a draft ever NO single player is worth 11 players

I'm a FIRM believer of cutting your losses sometimes players dont work get rid of what doesnt and keep what does

IMO maybin would of been cut his second year when he was benched nearly the entire year

well thats me as a GM now how would you run a team
