Ryan Fitzpatrick did indeed crack his ribs during the Washington game and played through it thereafter. David Nelson letting everybody know what most expected....finally.

Makes you wonder what level he would have played at healthy.... or if he should have been benched for a game or two.
If it would have helped him heal then maybe he should have sate out some time. But i don’t know how long ribs take to heal so I have no clue if it would have made a difference.
I’m just looking forward to seeing Fitzy at 100%. If he can play a full year like he did in his first 8 games last season, and we see mid of the pack improvement on the defense, then we’re a playoff team. Here’s hoping Fitzy learns how to play with a little extra padding.

thigpen
Shows how much Chan really believes in our back up that he was willing to put a cracked fitz in.

Honestly, I can’t imagine playing much worse in the two weeks after that game, so it almost makes me wish they’d tried Thigpen out. Maybe then Fitz would have been healthier for the last 6 games.

Maybe fitz never told gailey about it. That happened last year right.

I've been thinking this for a while
I talked about it with some Denver fans a while back, and some other times between then and now.
Wow, does this injury explain a lot.

And, good find K

Great Find
and actually this is good news in a way. Up until that Redskins game he had played pretty great. and then he had some good games some terrible games and mostly okay games. This makes a lot of sense considering his accuracy significantly got worse after the Redskins game, especially deep passes. This makes be think that he can be the guy for the next couple years and lead us to the Playoffs and then who knows. Before this my confidence in him was becoming less. We don’t need a QB this year we can draft one next year. Get some weapons around him and get some pass rushers.
With the 10th Pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Buffalo Bills select Dont'a Hightower LB Alabama.
Couple things and more.
We need to back off on the Thigpen over reaction. He had no OTA’s conditioning, the only thing the guy had was to wonder what team he was going to end up on and what his role was going to be. Those are excuses for a back up NFL veteran but many have the bar set way to high and obviously , Gailey, Nix and Fitzpatrick don’t. Our QB position in 2011 was far better than it was in 2010 with a veteran back up and a quality starter in Thigpen and Fitzpatrick. You want to discuss negatives, Fitz needs to learn how to play with pain or dare I say needs to learn how to play better in pain that is all. This past season could prove beneficial during a future playoff appearance where the hits are sure to come in truck loads. We should be glad that Fitz still wanted to play hurt and not wussy out.

I don’t really think “being capable of coming in to play when our QB is hurt” is setting the bar too high for our backup QB, though.

many will agree with you, I don't!
Thigpen isn’t the most skilled QB in the league but he has more potential than any rookie or back up we had last year. He did enter the roster after the start of traning camp and had to learn Gaily’s system all over again. He was surrounded by 50 plus players he never played with before not to mention the coaching staff and new environment. Watching him last year when the opportunity arose it was obvious to some that he was nowhere near ready to step in for Fitz. For Thigpen to assume starting QB responsibilities, Fitz would have been put on IR. IMO Fitz was still the best option to make the playoffs at that point in time and I will assume that Chix felt the same way. Unfortunately, the playoffs never happened and soon after the injury that kept Fitz off of IR many players received injuries that sent them to IR. It is all irrellavant at this point, it is our opinion Vs the coaches opinion.

I agree that Gailey felt like leaving a hurt Fitz in was a better option than bringing in Thigpen. My point, though, is that I don’t know why we have that situation to begin with. Our backup QB, whomever it is, should be able to step in and lead the team respectably for a couple of weeks.

convenient excuses
suddenly somebody will leak this all the while denying it…. very convenient to explain the horrible play… and the fans will buy it as usual…
