What was your earliest Super Bowl memory?
Think, think, think. Think back when you were a kid. What was the first game that you can remember and did it get you addicted to this wonderful beast that we call the NFL? Mine, I still recall vividly. Even though I can't remember my nephew or nieces' birthdays (gottem all written down).
I would watch their games on Channel 11 which was broadcasted across the lake (from Toronto I think) because I think Canada back then had adopted the Vikes as their NFL team.
Very sad for me to watch the young Steelers, in their first Super Bowl appearance, just pound away on my favored Vikings. Franco Harris and Rocky just pounded and pounded it away. Keeping the ball from Fran and the offense. The Steel Curtain began that day and the Purple People Eaters went home hungry.
A little trivia here, Bradshaw was 9 of 14 for 96 yards and 1 TD. Very Tebow like, eh?
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Super Bowl 5 1971 Baltimore Colts defeat Dallas Cowboys 16-13. I asked my dad what the rules were if the game ended 13-13, but the Colts kicked the FG for the win.
My family did not have a TV from 67-70. We were poor. We did pick up a TV from the neighbors trash in 1968 that worked from late Aug til Thanksgiving.
Anyway I did see part of the Bills 1965 AFC Championship game. I held the “rabbit ears” to keep the signal clear.

Mine was Superbowl 11 where John Madden was the coach, Kenny the Snake Stabler was QB, and Fred Biletnikoff and his pattened laying out and catching the ball as he fall out of bounds and still keeping his toes inbounds. I use to practice that in my back yard, always was one of my favorite receivers.

to add, those were the days when defenses all had nick names, like the “Purple people eaters” in Minnesota, Orange crush defense in Denver, Fearsome foursome in LA, Steel curtain in Pittsburgh, and so on. aaaahhh, those were the days.

Keeping in the toes in bounds in the back yard. That was one of the major activities of my childhood, too. We used to call it the “Bobby Chandler”, though.
We used to call it the "Bobby Chandler", though.
Haha, me too.
My first clear memory was watching the Cowboys defeat the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XII. I think I just might barely remember something about watching the Raiders defeat the Vikes in XI.

They played outdoors in the mud, snow, and crappy conditions like real men.
As a Golden Gopher fan this is why I love their semi-new stadium (TCF Bank Stadium) and as a minny res this is why I wish the new stadium would be open air.

Wide Right was my first Super Bowl memory, also.
I was 4 years old. I don’t remember anything else about the game, but I remember that kick as clearly as if it had happened yesterday.

I remember that kick as clearly as if it had happened yesterday.
Perhaps due to it being shown every year multiple times?

Super Bowl XIV in 1980
We were together for a family funeral I think. This was the first time it was a big deal for everyone that I knew. Everybody talked about how dominant the Steelers were going to be and I remember them just toying with the Rams the whole game…at least that is how I remember it.
I watched every one since then except Super Bowl XX with the Bears and Pats (I was boycotting the NFL that year in favor of the USFL – when it broke up, I became a Bills fan because of Jim Kelly coming to the team).

Bills Missing Super Bowl 1
After Championship seasons in 64 and 65, missing out going to the first Super Bowl was a big disappointment. I was 8.
Go big or go home.

My bold prediction tonight on my facebook was the Bills will win the Super Bowl in four years.

My dad wasn’t a Bills fan. Honestly I don’t even think he had a fav team, he just likes the NFL.
But he does claim to be a Saints fan but just not die hard.

Mine, too, was wide right.
Super Bowl XXV, January 27, 1991. That was the first day, that I learned, what it means to be a Bills’ fan. I didn’t recognize it at the time, nor did I clearly understand it yet, but that was the day, that I became hooked on football. Admittedly, my interest in the game, found me rooting for the Dallas Cowboys (I thought Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith were AMAZING compared to what little I had seen of football so far) but that only mean that just a couple short years later, that I got to experience two very bitter sweet games and seal my Super Bowl future forever and as a young fan (i had just turned 11), made me into the true FANATIC that I am now. I don’t think had it been for those four years, that I would have traded in WWF, for the NFL. hahaha. REALLY REALLY glad that I did though.
Great post idea Sarge. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. recd as well.

Super Bowl XV (15)
My family had just moved to California from WNY, and I remember watching the Raiders win it. I was pretty small back then (4 years old) but I still remember it. However, I really fell in love with football when the Bills played the Giants in Super Bowl XXV (25). My roots to WNY were rejuvenated through that team, and I have remained a die hard fan to this day.

It wasn’t the first Super Bowl I watched, but one of the first that sticks with me is the Bears v Patriots. An absolutely dominating performance.
I’m trying to remember if the first SB I watched was XVIII (Washington v Raiders) or XIX (Niners v Dolphins).

Not sure what Super Bowl that was (8 or 9 maybe), but it was the coronation of the hated Phish that year. I was rooting so hard for the “Over the Hill Gang” that day.
