What do you like this weekend? - Review
What a stink-fest last night, huh? I mean, it was predictable. Looked really painful. Was definitely painful to watch and listen to. And, when it was all over I felt robbed. Yes, Madonna's halftime show was just awful!
Now to the game. Wes Welker has to feel pretty bad this morning. If he catches that ball NE wins. Instead, everybody who bet the G-Men comes away the victor while the NE bettors have a little misery to add to their hangovers this morning.
My Picks were NE-3 and Under 54. I split them for 1-1. Season record was 86-73-7. Not good, but at least in the positive.
I had a great deal of fun writing these posts this year. I hope you enjoyed them as well. Big thanks to JustAskTheAxis, Buffalo Kid, billsoferie, Buffalo For Eternity, SERGEANT MAJOR THOR, TrufflePig, antlantalove, and all the other rumblers who commented weekly. The goal was not just to discuss wagering (as there are a ton of forums for that), but to discuss wagering in an environment of fellow Bills fans. I think we accomplished that goal. I think we all had a little fun with it too. Below is a poll to gauge interest in these posts for next season. Again, thanks for reading, commenting and contributing. Have a great off-season!
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

That’s been the popular theory over at PatsPulpit too – but fact is we have no idea what would have happened. Brady could have thrown a pick 6 after that or fumbled.

well of course there is the chance that the roof could cave in and the game gets postponed. however, realistically, ne gets the field goal, they go up by 5, or score the td and go up by 9. with roughly 3.5 minutes left.
You don’t think the Giants would have marched down the field and scored a TD in 3.5 minutes?
They did it the last two times the teams played.

yup – I thought the biggest gaff was Bradshaw scoring – but it worked out in the end. Brady had plenty of mistakes that game too

I do not think they would/could have...
NY was only managed one td all game (not counting the last Bradshaw td…which was given to them).
Yes it was…but the first 82 yards that they went on that drive were not given to them. Again, it’s all the Giants do against them is score in the 4th quarter, and its’ naive to assume they wouldn’t have been able to do it given a minute less time.

FWIW – Peyton Manning threw his only pick-6 of the season against the Saints in the SB.
You can’t what if these things – the laws of averages works out over time. You could easily say the Pats shouldn’t have even been in the SB because of Lee Evans and Cundiff in Baltimore – but they were.

I’m with you, J2…but it is far more likely that the bet (NE-3) covers if NE scores a FG following Welker’s should have been catch. because it forces NYG to score a td…which NE was successful in stopping most of that game (G-Men only scored one at that point). The Bradshaw td was obviously given to them by the hoodie to get the Brady Bunch back on offense.
I totally dig that anything can happen. And, obviously I made the wrong bet. However, using the same process of looking at a game, making a prediction and selecting a bet, I am making a guess that if Welker makes that catch, the game ends 20-15 NE. It’s all hypothetical…just like making picks.
but the game changes at that point too – the G-Men would get 4 downs instead of 3.
on a side note – i love how people were blasting Welker (he probabyl should have caught it) but that pass was very Fitzpatrick like. :)

I was going to ask this question (if you should continue this series next year) on your last FanPost.
I have not bet on sports in decades. Not that I am opposed to the idea, just too busy moving up the work food chain, raising a family etc. I am a big football fan and very competitive. I will probably resume some betting activity in the near future.
What I like most about your posts is your view of the games. As a man that spends plenty of time researching his material, you give us a perspective (a regular guy, not a pro) not generally available by other means.
I hope you do continue.

Yesterday was pure joy!
The Patriots lost.
And the two, smug, arrogant Patriots fans today at work were getting killed from all sides.
A thing of beauty.
I don’t bet, but I really enjoyed your weekly column Ryan.
Please keep it up next year.
