Nation Wide Mock Draft
Hello Bills Fans,
I had an idea for a mock draft in which your sports nation site acts as your team. Over the next few months I plan to visit each team's site and allow for each reader to help pick your team's draft pick. Please answer the poll to select your team's draft pick.
Just to give you a little more on this idea and myself, I am a writer for bleacherbumsports.net and will continue to organize all of the draft information I receive through my site. The poll will be up for 3 days after which the player with the most votes is your teams draft pick. I will then move on to the next site and have them pick from which players are left. This will only be a first round draft and can not involve trades so please pick where your team currently is. I cannot verify in the proper amount of time if the other team would accept your trade.
I would really appreciate everyones help with this. Thanks in advance! - Sam
Current Draft Results:
1. Colts - QB Andrew Luck
2. Rams - WR Justin Blackmon
3. Vikings - OT Matt Kalil
4. Browns - QB Robert Griffin III
5. Buccaneers - CB Morris Claiborne
6. Redskins - OT Riley Reiff
7. Jaguars - DE Quinton Coples
8. Dolphins - DE Melvin Ingram
9. Panthers - CB Dre Kirkpatrick
The Poll will be open until Feb 9 at 1pm
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

why Brockers?
We have our DT’s in Dareus and Meatball. I am not sure what us drafting him does for our defense? Why would we do that? At this point, in the 4-3, I see no reason for him. In the 4-3 he is a DT, in the 3-4, he is a DE or DT
I'd rather go out in a blaze of glory, then slowly fade away in the antiquities of time.
Because he's my BPA

Why not...
Bigger bodies out there that can play, if the BPA is a DT you can’t pass it up.
I'm waitin'..... @killascript on twitter
He's Buntings
5th best prospect as well.

Bunting does love Brockers, but I don’t think that grading scale is meant to be read as somebody being Xth best. I think there’s no way that Bunting would think David DeCastro is a guy a team should take in the top 5. It’s just the way his scale works as he grades players on things like how likely they are to play right away. Not that that applies to Brockers though. Bunting clearly views him as a top 10 prospect who would be a good pick inside the top 5-6 picks.

Well sure
Kalil and Brockers are interchangeable there. But he does have him as a day 1 starter. And Williams,Dareus, and Brockers IMO would give us the best interior d line in the league.
8.0 Starts in first game as a pro… A prospect who possesses physical attributes that will create mismatches vs. most opponents… A featured player on a team.

I am not sure what us drafting him does for our defense?
takes the interior of the bills Dline from very good to elite?
fact 1: brockers has the skill set to be one of the best defensive linemen in the league.
fact 2: defensive tackle sees more rotation than any position on the field. those guys need to be kept as fresh as possible. rolling 4 or even 5 deep at DT (in a 4-3, at least) is hardly a bad thing
fact 3: meatball won’t be around forever. does he have 2 more good years in him? maybe even 3 or 4? either way, kyle williams’ game falling apart with age is something the bills would be wise to get prepared for
fact 4: as 2011 should have made lout and clear: injuries happen. brockers would be such an enormous upgrade for that roster spot over guys like edwards, johnson, and heard.
having said all of that, im not even voting for him.
Its fun to think quarterback, but i think the odds of nix taking one in the first are close to 0%.

Problem is
over the next 2, 3, or 4 years, where does he fit? The pick makes no sense. I’d trade down before taking a player that we can’t use correctly.

doesnt matter, upshaw is going to win this in a landslide.

Wow, sorry for not including him
I didn’t think anyone would be interested in him seeing that Fitzgerald just got an extension. very interesting.
Fitzpatrick
and the extension is only really 3 years guaranteed. Not a lot of money.
With the 10th Pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Buffalo Bills select Dont'a Hightower LB Alabama.
I don't understand the Upshaw vote
What Buffalo needs in its 4-3 end isn’t what Upshaw is great at. Buffalo needs pass-rushing demons that can beat OT’s off the edge regularly. Upshaw is a good upfield player, but he’s not really a Freeney-esque 4-3 end. Which is what he needs to be at his height.
Re-starting the official Buffalo "Draft a quarterback in the First Round in 2012" campaign.
Holy Courtney Upshaw. I knew Bills fans liked him, but I’m surprised it’s this lopsided. He’s currently beating every other prospect combined by a total of 41-18.
I voted for Michael Floyd. I think he’s a fringy top 10 prospect and a great fit as both a need and in Buffalo’s offense. Not only does he fit what the offense does now and needs now, but I think he still fits very well if Buffalo makes any kind of offensive changes down the road. He’d be good in a power run and take some shots down the field offense if Buffalo is breaking in a rookie in a couple years. He’d be good in any offense.

I'll Mobile Vote Floyd
I love Floyds game. He catches most everything, is big, strong and fast, blocks well, super productive…I’m also somewhat an ND homer though. LOL! But guys I like are gone (Coples, Ingram, both QBs) so I’ll say Floyd and we hope Curry is around in the 2nd!

I’m no ND homer, I’m a Ducks homer, but agree on Floyd.

The thought of Johnson and Floyd on the outside with Nelson in the slot and Freddie and CJ coming out of the backfield makes me happy.

Floyd reminds me of Moulds, who was one of my favorite players.

i think the think Kaiser brings up, that seals the deal for me
is Floyd’s blocking ability. He is big, and physical, super productive, as Kaiser notes as well. But more importantly, when you are playing a scheme that utilizes the “hat on a hat” as it’s primary premise, your WR are sometimes asked to block safeties, and Linebackers. I feel like Floyd can do that, and that is a special component to selecting a guy that early. He has to translate quickly (immediately is hard for some WR, though they run a pro offense in ND) and he has to excel at more than just catching a football. His size is something you can’t teach, he has good body control, but I think the reason I am so sure about him, is he improves our run game as well. I love his game also, and I have a friend who is a huge ND fan, and ALWAYS wants the ND guy in the first. This was the only time I have ever agreed. I like him.

Also voted Floyd
I’d like to see if him being on the field would improve Fitz’s game and if he would make C.J. and Freds running even game even better than it already is.
Punt?! In our moment of triumph?! I think you overestimate their chances!!

I agree Kaiser.
I voted for Michael Floyd. I think he’s a fringy top 10 prospect and a great fit as both a need and in Buffalo’s offense.
If you are gonna roll with Fitz and want to get him some help…..Floyd is the kind of player who can turn Fitz’s misfires into catches as well as giving him a deep threat who can play some jump ball against at least 75% of the CBs in the league.

I voted other…….. trade down and pick up more draft picks please. Because if Buffalo drafted him, i would be highly upset.

I’m with you – if Richardson is still there at this point, I gotta think some calls would be coming in, and I’d trade down in a heartbeat. Would Buddy? Not so sure. But I would. If Coples, Kalil, and Reiff are gone, I think it’s eeny meeny miney mo – and I’d slide down a few and get the extra pick, and still get the same value.

Write-in vote for Whitney Mercilus.

Merculis (Seconded)
Bills need a pass rusher hands down. Merculis fits the bill physically and statistically.
He fits Nix’s size preference 6-4, 265, 4.67 while having great speed.
Additionally he led the nation with 16 sacks, not to mention being great in run support
Even though he can be considered a one year wonder, he has bloodiness and a variety of moves.

But voted for Perry. Perry has big upside.

I agree with PineWoodsBillsFan - I voted "Other" and I meant Whitney Mercilus.
If Coples is gone Mercilus has the most upside of any of the remaining 4-3 DE prospects. I’d also be looking to trade down a bit as I believe he’d still be there for a while and I don’t think there’s a huge difference between Mercilus, Perry, or Ingram and at least one of them should still be there after a trade down.
I agree, would prefer that the Bills trade down to the middle of the 1st round.

I would take Hightower
voted for Martin though. Tannehill would also be good. But Upshaw would not be a good pick. I don’t get why Bills fans are obsessed with him. He is not that good.

hightower and Curry
unless we get Mario Williams or Cliff Avril in FA. Hightower can play SLB, and on 3rd down be a pass rushing DE in the nickel package (taking Kelsay/Carrington’s spot) then on the other side of have Curry as the 3 down RDE. draft a cb, wr and OT with the next 3 picks, and we can have a very good team next year. Not including any FA, besides resigning Stevie and Chandler.
With the 10th Pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Buffalo Bills select Dont'a Hightower LB Alabama.
i really don't see us spending on Mario
if we won’t even pay the guys already on the team. I think a CB can be had later (ie Rogers/Searcy) but on WR/OT- I am less inclined to believe that a draft selection is going to be an obvious upgrade to the guys we have on the roster, if not selected in the first 3 rounds. I would not be at all surprised to see a FA WR, and a re-signing of Bell, to address those other needs.
ABAYARDE IS NOSTRADAMUS JUST WATCH WE WILL NOT YIEALD TO NOBODY YOUR SOUL WE WILL TAKE
yea i agree
and they probably won’t be. But in the year after they might be and for now they can be depth players who may or may not make an impact. I would rather spend money on a pass rusher than a WR though.
With the 10th Pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Buffalo Bills select Dont'a Hightower LB Alabama.
that's fair
but i would rather have my cake, and eat it too. I want a pass rusher as much as the next, but I expect this to be yet another full draft of defense. Adding a true WR with talent, that translates immediately, is too tempting for me to just accept that our “biggest” need means giving up on other needs.
ABAYARDE IS NOSTRADAMUS JUST WATCH WE WILL NOT YIEALD TO NOBODY YOUR SOUL WE WILL TAKE
Thank you for voting so far everyone! ... Im surprised at some of the write in votes
Sorry for not including some of these players. I’m especially surprised at tannehill getting so much support but thats what also makes this fun for me. It gives me an inside perspective on how the fans are feeling about each team.

BPA/ need/ WR questions, rest of draft for defense.
