I'm basing the Ingram selection on what I just read in here about the latest interview of Buddy Nix on WGR 550: http://wgr550.com/pages/12424329.php?contentType=4&contentId=10099047
I interpret that last quote as Nix recalling specific criticisms he'd earlier made specifically when asked about Melvin Ingram. I'm reading the fact that he's admitting he probably over-analyzed the arm length and height issues and that you've got to consider his production as being very favorable specifically regarding the concept of taking Melvin Ingram with the #10 pick.
The first round group will likely consist of Quinton Coples, Melvin Ingram, Courtney Upshaw, Nick Perry and maybe a few others. Without naming names, the Bills GM described why he was so nervous about the group at the top.
"There's just some things you over-analyze, probably. You worry about height, you worry about arm length and that kind of thing. Bottom line really, you've got to make yourself come back to production. If he's always done it, there's a good chance he'll do it again."
I hope he does exactly that. I hope he takes Melvin Ingram at #10 to start the 2012 Bills draft and I hope he keeps on going from there. BTW, I specifically added DE Tyrone Crawford at the #72 pick in reaction to Nix going on to talk favorably about the depth of the DE class starting with the likely 2nd round picks. Ingram and Crawford could give the Bills to very dynamic DEs surrounding Dareus and Meatball in the new 4-3 defense.
Maybe wishful thinking on my part but that's how I'm reading these latest quotes from Buffy Nix regarding the Bills 2012 draft plans.
