Like everyone on here, I think the Mario Williams signing was a great move for Buffalo. He's a legitimate super star filling a need position, strengthens the overall defense, attracts future free agents (hopefully), and excites the fan base. But the money shelled out for him, especially as roster bonuses in the first 3 years, takes a huge chunk out of our available spending power. So I'm wondering if anyone knows the implication of his contract on Buffalo's own triage of soon to be free agents Levitre, Byrd, and Wood (in 2013)? These are the types of young and upcoming guys that Nix likes to retain and use for the nucleus of a franchise. But does Buffalo have the resources left to sign all 3, either this season or next (plus one promised extension for Fred)? If I had my choice, I think I'd make Levitre my top choice to receive a contract if only because of his durability, flexibility, and hope that he'd be less expensive than Wood. But I could see legitimate arguments for any of them.
Any thoughts on if Buffalo could resign these players considering the Williams contract? And if a decision has to be made, who you think would get priority?
