Buffalo, Her people and Her fans

I've found this treasure trove of a website about 2 years ago, but excepting a couple excited comments about Mario Williams a couple of weeks ago I have mostly been a creeper up until today. I had a thought to write about my feelings on this subject after a few chance encounters with Bills and Sabres fans this week got me thinking.

To help you understand my perspective on the matter let me start by saying I was not born in Western New York. I was born in Western North Carolina, much to my occasional chagrin due to the occasional ribbing from my family and Yankee friends. My old man and his family hail from Lockport, but he decided to follow my Grandparents to the south in his youth, leaving my many relatives behind. From as long ago as I can remember I was raised bleeding Bills and Sabres colors. I have been to Buffalo, I've seen all the sites, the falls, eaten the wings, the AMAZING Beef on Weck, though my grandmother does make a pretty mean imitation, and cover my fries in Vinegar, which often rewards me with vile stares by those nearby. Most importantly though, I have meet the people of Buffalo and Western New York.

These past couple of weeks I have run into several former Buffalonians and two kids who like myself, where born in WNC to families that came from Buffalo, a relatively astonishing number to what I am used to seeing. The thing that I have always noticed with these two groups of people is the passionate love and respect they give Buffalo, whether they are from there or have family there, and the Bills/Sabres. I do not think I have seen such a common ground that is so cared for by people of different origins. The people of Buffalo are some of the nicest people I have met during my visits up north, often putting to shame the so called southern hospitality that I was raised around.

The point of this article was just to say, even though it is well known among those privy to the knowledge and mentioned repeatedly on this site, that I truly feel the Buffalo Bills ( and Sabres) have some of the greatest fans in the world, and that Buffalo ( and her surrounding areas) is home to some of best people I have met, except for my cousin, he is a little weird.

Anyways, GO BILLS!!!

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
