Jason Peters Injury Opens Door For Demetrius Bell

On Friday, news broke that Philadelphia Eagles left tackle Jason Peters - undoubtedly a familiar face to Buffalo Bills fans - had ruptured his Achilles tendon and is in danger of missing the entirety of the 2012 season. He'll have surgery next week, and the Eagles are scrambling to replace him.

In doing so, they're bringing in Demetrius Bell for a free agent visit.

This is the fifth team that Bell will have visited during the free agent signing period, and it's fair to say that this fifth team may also be the most desperate for Bell's services. If it looked unlikely before Friday that Bell would re-sign with the Bills - who have been talking to Bell's agent all along, according to head coach Chan Gailey - then it's looking like a major longshot right now.

Of course, that doesn't change anyone's expectations heading into the 2012 NFL Draft. Left tackle has been at or near the top of fans' wish lists all winter, and if Bell does wind up in Philadelphia, nothing will have fundamentally changed save for making the need official.
