There has been a fair bit of chatter regarding Mr. Manning bringing his services to our fine city. Realistically, this has to be considered out of the question for the Bills and for Peyton. For one, we are no where near being as ready to compete for a SB as a lot of other teams. Second, we just sunk a lot of money in out guy (even though we can get out of it rather easily after each season). Third, it would severely handicap out ability to continue this strong building process we have undergone in the last two years. There are plenty of other reasons, but that's not the purpose of this thread...
When you look at the high-probability landing spots, two of those teams reside in our division, in Miami and the Jets. That could potentially mean that our Bills are looking at four games per year against Tom Brady and Peyton Manning for the next 3-5 years. Needless to say, this puts the impetus on our front office to upgrade the pass rush NOW.
If the chatter is for Peyton to the AFC East, the Bills have all the more reason to make a very aggressive run at Mario Williams for two distinct reasons. First, it immediately upgrades the pass rush for years to come. Second, it allows us to focus on an impact wideout early in the draft--after all, you typically don't win low scoring games against Brady or Peyton.
Just some thoughts...
