With the No. 27 overall pick in the BR Community Mock Draft, 'NoiseIsTheBestRevenge' and the New England Patriots select Illinois defensive end Whitney Mercilus.
"Mercilus led the nation in sacks and forced fumbles in 2011, and like Courtney Upshaw, is a clear top round pass rusher," the GM explains. "He's delivered, even when stacked up against top tackles like Mike Adams. At this stage in the draft, he's a great selection, both from a BPA and from a need perspective. At the combine, he displayed strength with 27 reps, and great speed as well with a 4.68-second 40. He's got the explosiveness needed to succeed in the NFL. He's also very scheme versatile, which is a must for New England's defense."
