Hello Fellow R's
We all know who Revis is. He is in the top 2 CB's in the league. He is potentially one of the top 10 players in the game today. He can shut down a WR and can take over a game plan. He is very good in man and zone coverage and is solid in run support. The guy can do it all.
He is also what is wrong with the Jets. Instead of focusing on making the team tighter and stepping up as a respected leader on the team, what is he thinking? How much more money should I ask for? Yes, Revis is talking about holding out again. It seems that every time the 2 year "bonus" money ends, he wants to "alter" his contract because he feels he should be earning an insane amount of money per year. He held out as a rookie. He held out 2 years ago when the bonus money ended. He signed a 45 Million dollar extension, yet, he and his agent called it a "BAND AID" for what he wants. Say what??
The Jets are full of selfish "me" first athletes who care more about what they make then playing football for the Jets. Lets face it, the Jets should be out for blood. They were "self-proclaimed" super bowl contenders last year. They didn't even make the post season. There is a lot on the line this year for them and their loud mouthed coach. Yet, instead of joining together and making sure there is enough cash to go around to build a true super bowl caliber team, Revis wants to mortgage them for more cash. Good team player he is. They drafted a true boom-or-bust guy who really shows what the Jets are in a nutshell. The whole team is ready to implode and what does their best player want? More cash. This is the type of guy who just isn't worth it.
Lets compare our Buffalo Bills. Fred Jackson, Steve Johnson, Scott Chandler, Morrison, Pears, and several others all could have asked for more cash or looked for the best payday. Instead of taking top dollar, they opted for FAIR DOLLAR. They are fairly paid so that the Bills could field as competitive a team as they can. They care about each other and want each other to succeed. They don't care about individual stats, as long as the team is winning. CJ Spiller has openly stated he is very happy for Fred Jackson's extension. Can you imagine anyone on the Jets being happy if they couldn't start? I believe CJ. As long as the team is winning, that is all they care about. I don't know if you can ask for a more unselfish group of guys who want to win together and show the world that the little team that might turned into the little team that dominated its way to could. They want this together.
The Jets were lucky to win that second game. However, their loud mouthed coach and guys like Revis believe they are the same old dominant Jets that will crush Buffalo because that is how it's always been since they have been there. There is a changing of the guard coming and they don't even know it yet because they are all focused too much on me, me, me and not on what is going on. Our Buffalo Bills will show the Jets and the rest of the league how a team beats a bunch of selfish me guys to start an upward swing for the Bills and a death knell for the Jets.
