The Buffalo Bills and Erie County originally hoped to have a new stadium lease agreement in place by training camp; that deadline has now been pushed back to year's end.
Buffalo Bills training camp will begin next week, and it won't be preceded by a new lease agreement for Ralph Wilson Stadium between the team and Erie County, as the two sides had originally hoped.
Mark Poloncarz, Erie County Executive, tells The Buffalo News that the two sides now hope to have an agreement in place by the end of the year. The report does not completely eliminate the possibility of an agreement within the next week, but Poloncarz specifically said, via reporter Denise Jewell Gee, that he's "confident" an agreement will be reached by the end of the year.
Poloncarz was also careful to mention that talks, which began in April, are still ongoing and are still productive. Information about negotiations has been coming almost exclusively from Poloncarz over the last two months, as the Bills have remained very silent on the matter. The current stadium release is scheduled to expire on July 31, 2013.
