OFFENSE
It seems to me that there are more positions, or more roles from traditional positions, in this offense than we are used to from most offensive concepts. Jackson and Spiller for example really play two different roles; then there’s a FB, an Hback, four different types of receiver, two types of TE, and, with the stupid wildcat, two types of QB. With the five linemen that’s SEVENTEEN jobs that see action on offence. Wow.
DEFENSE
I think they should have Kelsay in as LE on some second downs spelling M. Williams … I don’t know why they switched Kelsay to the right (in OTA's and mini-camp anyway), are they going to rotate Kelsay, Anderson, and Merriman all at RE?
Why not just have Kelsay back up Williams and Merriman back up Anderson and rotate them a bit? We actually might end up with Merriman starting – he was amazing against the run last year btw. How about then keeping Sp. Johnson as a backup tackle? I’ve seen more good play from him than the others IMO – essentially from the tackle position. I see Carrington as the other back-up DT, but preseason will tell. I wonder what that pool of FS's that other teams cut will look like. Do you think we might see M. Williams, M. D., K. Williams, Anderson, and Merriman all on the field at once? That’s a lot of fire-power and speed.
SPECIAL
I don’t see keeping two kickers. That makes no sense to me, Lindell can kick it out of the end-zone on kickoffs. What’s there to talk about? It kinda upsets me actually.
If Batten can long-snap really GOOD then keep him, otherwise keep Sanborn. It’s really embarrassing when that gets botched.
I am really looking forward to seeing who returns kicks, will T.J. take some?
GENERAL
I cannot wait. They are really going to be good. -ahem-knock on wood-
